Landing on moons, autopilot

I think there should be an option to autoland on a surface. Sometimes it takes a while to find a good spot, down in craters, etc. But if I dismiss my ship after I've landed on some rough spot, drive around a bit in my SRV, come back, call for my ship, that lands, no problem. Like the AI is giving me a nice 'F-You!' as it gently lands, knowing Im watching and cursing it under my breath. Then I lift off...try and land, and takes time to find a spot.
That same AI should be able to land the ship, whether Im in the seat or not. So take that AI.

Good times.

I have found that if you are going slow enough, you can basically land in most places.

Being basically level and on smooth ground and all is OK, just level the ship with the ground, drop the landing gear and use the down thruster. However: If I try this too fast, it does not work. I don't really look for blue spots, I just very carefully park it where I like and at the end, the blue landing spot, appears.

I'm all for autolanding, there is one for docking after all. To make it not play the game for you I'd say it would only work in gravitational acceleration under 2Gs, ship being stationary, under a kilometer high and it would be a slow process where the autopilot would choose the place by itself.

I'd be happy enough for autodock to be able to land the ship on a planet surface for those that want it, as the OP states, the tech required is already onboard. I think it should require the autodock module to be installed though.

First: You simply can't land everywhere.
But: The SRV has Trusters. They could let us just drop out of the Ship. And also boarding would work that way.
I had a hard time on the rim of one of those big impact craters. Overall angle was at 50 degree and everywhere bumps and cracks.
I was flying for nearly 20 mins to find a spot where i could land. And then when I where out on the Surface I realized, that I wouldn't be able to recall the Ship because it wouldn't find the Spot again...
So I drived around looking for that POI. I eventually gave it up and recalled for my Ship.
Instead of makeing a nice flyby with a smooth landing in an exceptable distance, it dropped 30 meters in front of the srv, hovering at 10 meters above the ground, doors open.
I instantly thought: "It's waiting for me to jump in!" But I couldn't handle the truster to bring myself into the right position as the g values on the planet were a bit high. And the ground was very uneven too as I mentioned.
So I tried it again on different spots. After some time I felt the nausea coming back from the endless wobbly driving. My Face got cold an hot and my stomach started to turn around, but I had to get to my ship.
Then suddenly I heard the little Buzzer. I was around 30 Meters beneath the Gate and exactly in one line with it. The slope was around 50 or 60 degree and I steady slid out of the place and the handbrake didn't work as expected.
Finaly I beat it and the Ship sucked me in from where I stood.
Then I wen't of this horrible place.
