Disaster finally happened

So after 3 years of playing i have finally experienced the exploding Anaconda, sure i've seen a few CMDR's mention it over the months but until a short time ago didn't really believe that it could happen. Just requested docking so i make my descent and approaching my pad, no other ship near me, no warnings of any kind and no shooting or anything like that and bang there i am just a pile of metal.

To say that it left me rather confused is an understatement, sure it's a little frustrating to witness but that's gaming i suppose but i'm not going to lose any sleep over it but the rebuy was a cool 17 million so just as well i had over 130 million in the bank. I'm not one of those gamers that expects everything to be handed back to me and certainly won't be asking for FDEV to refund my loss but seeing all those fines mount up from missions i was about to hand in sure as hell did test my patience. Just as well that i enjoy the game otherwise that would have probably done it for me so if this has happened to a few other CMDR's then i do sympathise with you.

Conclusion to this little story is that i probbaly won't be stacking 10 to 20 missions any longer just because it could happen again and don't really feel like being punished for something beyond my control, as always stay safe out there CMDR's and live for the moment in ED as you never know when it's going to end.

Landing at a planetary base?

If so, sounds like the skimmer bug. They currently spawn at height and if one drops on your ship, instant shield drop and annihilation by the base.

Support will refund, but i doubt they can do much about the lost missions, etc :)

Just landed in a planetary station and I saw a skimmer doing Mach 1 to the surface just past the nose of my Python, I have seen this quite often as have many players.

It is a known bug, submit a ticket and ask politely for some consideration, support is quite understanding.

The OP seems matter-of-fact and wasn't asking for anything, no need to degenerate his thread.

I did think that it could be the skimmer bug and yes a few have been having this recently but i'm quite relaxed about it really, i mean well it could be worse.

It's fine. It's 17 million credits and you are salty because you could not necessarily see the reason for the 17 million loss; it was enough to post. But, this is why we have such a cheap rebuy. Because sometimes things happen. In this case, though, it'll almost certainly be the skimmer bug, if you were at a surface base. Sometimes, the game breaks. :)

Feel free to claim it from Frontier, there's no such thing as inflation in ED and the support team is loaded with credits. Son they have so many credits, I can't even. And they seem to like spending them. They're a great lot, really. Good people. Go say hello.

Snap - Was also landing my Python the other day and quite literally saw a skimmer dive past the nose of my ship. Still counting my lucky stars. :)

Planetary bases and the skimmer bug aside, the OP's experience of Annie going boom while landing (at a space base) with no obvious explanation happened to me about hmm... 18 months or so ago. I did raise a ticket in case it was a bug and Support very kindly refunded me, though I hadn't asked for it - no word on the potential bug though.

Don't feel so bad. I've blown up in the Corvette about 7 times, lol. :p

They can:
- restore the reputation and clear the failed missions so they don't affect the rep (one of support guys told me that the "punishments" are applied as you click "abandon" on the missions
- revive NPC crew
- reimburse all Credit losses

IDK about engineer modules, but seeing as people are getting the rebuy back instead of ship, I don't think they can restore the modules. Or maybe they can?

I haven't died to anything bar station guns in about a year. Lol
Oh, and PvP once. :p

I keep seeing skimmers dropping down in front of my ship. Luckily I take the low and slow approach. Still had a few close calls though!

Do you even read or comprehend? There was no salt or anything. He just found the event curious enough to write about it.

Once, and only once, in literally thousands of planetary landings, have I ever seen skimmers fall from sky, and it was a pretty amusing thing to see. They literally dropped like rocks, hit the ground and lay there, then got up and went about their business like nothing had happened.

And where was I when this happened? Around 5km or so over the base, making a nice, slow descent, around 800m or so from the landing area. Seems a nice, slow approach gives them time to spawn and fall and not be over your head.
