not sure when the summer of rift sale ends... but its not a million miles away. when it does the rift will go up in price by $/£ 100

also just be aware the xbox pad is no longer included. the rift and touch is now sold as a bundle.

I get what you are saying about rewarding yourself, however it will end up costing you more. maybe instead put the money aside for buying games to go with your hmd.... or for every time you break, you get a 24hr pc ban.

good work on the health trip.

8 years ago, over the course of 12 months i lot 70lbs

sadly I blew my knee and had to have surgery which put an end to my running, which is how i did it. I never got back on the horse afterwards and i found pretty much all of those lbs i lost :(

losing weight is tough
keeping it of is a pig however!.
back on it now but it is quite depressing to be going back over old ground again.

as i said, good luck

You can do it! I think it's great to have a goal, and stick to it. Congrats in advance, for hitting your goals... ;)

Thanks, in advance!

I know, man, but I've made my decision and am sticking to it.

Yeah - back when I took that first picture I was very critical of overweight people (the army teaches you to be very critical of shortcomings). Then, when 'suddenly' I was overweight, I realized how damn hard it is to lose it and keep it off. The massive doses of happy hormones that come with a sedentary lifestyle and mounds of junk food are hard to overcome (and you become somehow convinced that they can't be delivered with exercise and successful goal planning... they can).

My left knee has been complaining a bit, too. I'm hoping that it will get better as I shed more of the weight. But age is pig...

Good luck on shedding your pounds. Are you riding a bike to keep impact off the knee?

Yup we should be entering the last week of discount and the new price for the bundle will be $500.

So if you want to stick to a reward cycle and want to save money, I would buy now. And stick in the cupboard for that glorious day ;)

Thanks, in advance!

Good luck. I know the feeling, I got out of the Army in 2000 and it's been a struggle keeping in shape ever since. Especially since I work a desk job all day and getting older just makes it harder. In march of this year I realized I couldn't do anything physical without feeling exhausted so I decided to do something about it. Like you, back in march I started eating better and running again. I'm down 35 pounds and feeling better than ever. If I can drop another 10 pounds I'd be pretty happy.

Won't work! It has to be hard-won, or it will ruin everything.

no right now i am just trying to watch my calorie intake and have a few "fitness" games in vr - thrill of the fight is good shadowboxing game, the climb surprisingly knackering and eleven table tennis is ..... ok that is a stretch. ;)

super hot VR can get you moving about a bit, none of it is as good as a proper workout but its better than being totally sedentary.

I am considering strapping up my knee and pounding it again........ i did the whole gymn thing but it is just so boring. at least with running, i can stick my play list on (i had a finely crafted running list with some fast songs and slow songs do do a bit of fartlek (iron maiden phantom of the opera.... i loved running to that at the end of my run, it was my kill or cure me last track ;) ) and it was nice to get out on the fields etc and have some country side to look at

probably not something to advise but i also used to see how long i could keep the warning alarm going on my heart rate monitor for at the end of my run (during phantom of the opera)...... silly really, it does not make for good running improvements and could probably have done damage...., but it got addictive.

i was never a daley thompson as as an ex army bod to you my times will sound pathetic... but at my best i could do 5.5miles in under 45mins, not bad for someone who 9 months earlier could barely do 200m without blowing out of my backside.

then i had to have a bursal cyst removed from my knee.....

I listened to a good portion of Piece of Mind on my run yesterday. Iron Maiden is great running music!

(Had to skip over Revelations and Quest for Fire though... they just broke the pace way too much ;) )

The thing is, once you have VR, it encourages you to stay in front of your computer even more. It's a good idea to get in shape and lose weight first, and then make sure you play some games that keep you on your feet, like Robo Recall, and not just Elite all the time. Heh. ;) :D

Buy now, give to relatives for safekeeping until you reach goal. I can give you my bank account number so you can transfer me the $100 you don't care about, problem solved ;-)

I got this :D

Congrats, keep up the good work.

One things that helps me keep going is kind of a daily goal I made with myself. I typically run in the morning before work and game in the evenings, so I decided if I get lazy and skip the morning workout then not gaming that night.

Totally caved. I hate you guys :)

Actually, you're right - I saved a good deal of money by picking it up on sale.

I pick it up today. I won't let it get in the way of my goals... I promise ;)

What's up neighbor...good luck on the weight loss and the VR.

Thanks man!

Hey, this section of the forum is filled with a bunch of enablers... I suspect you already knew that. ;) :D

:D

Well, they enabled me to save money, so...

Ha, how's that for logic - I "saved money" by spending $400 :)

I should run for congress.
