Sure.............. First I heard about this game some years ago 'cool, could be something to play'. I now read the comments on the latest around the verse video (well, some) and see 'new revolutionary tech', 'game advances that will benefit the industry', 'amazing', 'the best', 'biggest', 'sad' when talking about the nay sayers - yes it seems like it is the 35% again.
But I am seriusly wondering about all the noise about how they are benefiting the industry?

This franchise is the one of the many bad sides of the gaming industry....

[haha] franchise? of what product? :D

Parts of the mobi-glass thing looks cool but other parts look too busy with too much scrolling/clicking.

Still seems to be a case of all flash and no substance. For a patch that is reasonably imminent there has been very little actual gameplay demonstrated so I can only assume they're holding it back in order to tease open the wallets at Gamescom.
Well, there is no need for the mobiglass to be "perfect" the first time it is released in the PTU o even the Public Alpha, the problem is that they will not begin to improve on it until the players use it.

They need to release it soon... little point on fixing or make something perfect when you(CIG) will have to improve on the design for many months...

I m with you on this. I think they dont have anything substantial else they would wave it around like a dogtail. On the other hand....CRoberts is well known for making bad company decisions so maybe they do have something and he thinks the best approach is to hide it all.....

Just like SQ42? :D he doesnt want to spoil anything!

Quite true.

All this stuff is nice and all but where is the "game" in the gameplay after all these years. CIG have done little but release ship sale after ship sale and a few distractions here and there over the years. Need to pay the butcher bill and get the thing up to scratch and release.

It would work very well though, so don't discount the possibility of them holding back a big piece of functionality until it's released. If they stealth-release a big item, then from THEN on when people say "well where is X after all these years" the fan base will point to 3.0 and say "just because it isn't hyped to oblivion (like it usually is) doesn't mean they aren't working on it behind the scenes."

As a strategy for releasing a game I think it's a bad idea. As a strategy for stringing along a captive market it's brilliant.

Mobiglas...very nice and all. But, with that amazing 'does everything' piece of electronic nonsense CiG have wasted all this dev time on, what's the point of the kiosks and click on screens the devs have also duplicated effort on?

That's 2 ATV's in a row CR has gone into defensive mode over mostly dismissive comments on fluff feature additions by backers for what is still an Alpha release product... one that's not any time soon releasing and still hasn't shown one gameplay loop to tie all the oft chanted graphic fideliousness together into a working PU where folks can actually fly their space ships...

He's just not getting the fact that until he gets 3.0 out of the door and we're playing it, the majority of the backers wallets are shut...he'll find out exactly how shut they are when he promotes the inevitable pixel ship sale at Gamescom after yet another 3.0 no show.

If CRoberts would have once stayed to his word and come through on any promises in the years since Star Citizen began development I would be more laid back and trusting in his capabilities or CiGs progress in general. Its just that so far all they could ve raised time and time again are massively delayed sub-par modules and half-finished/buggy features and instead of refining whatever they did release so far I see them jumping from branch to branch in a totally chaotic and confusing way which further increases my suspicion that something stinks. Its not impossible that they do have something up their sleeve but the probability for it isnt something I consider valid at the moment. Yes, they might surprise me eventually but as far as I can see I m in the save because the only way CIG can "surprise" me is in a good way and in case I am wrong I ll be actually happy with the outcome. Cant say the ultras will be happy in case they get "surprised" hehehe.

Woot, got my refund. The process was pretty quick, they were polite and straightforward about it.

Yea, it was fairly straightforwards for me too. Only downside was they paid me back on my paypal account in USD, so paypal took a giant chunk out of the money to convert it back to GBP. Ah well, can't win it all.

cheers, how much did you get back if you dont mind sharing?

(creditcard number and RL credentials too pls :D:D:D)

Only the small amount of $45, I don't ever go big on pre-ordering games and I'm really against buying assets and stuff. Elite was my one exception with its premium beta/lifetime pass package.
My Star Citizen purchase was the game + Squadron 42 and tbh it's not about the money, it's about the way they conduct themselves. I've always been against their exaggeration, their monetisation method, their scope growth, their hypocrisy etc, I just don't want to support that and by leaving my money with them I was condoning all of that .

The vocal minority has also really put me off the game, I hate their toxicity to the point where I'd rather just go without than be part of that.

I haven't looked to closely but I think I might have made money out of it, by way of the exchange rate at the time of my purchase and the current rate :)

People's wallets released around 15 mill dollars so far this year.......

Edit: Around $300 in the time it took me to post this lol, the Gamescom, 3.0 and anniversary sales will as ever make them a crazy amount of money.

Not so sure it will, any more.
More and more Citizens are realizing that throwing more money at this project isn't going to release it any faster.

I think this is very likely, there's certainly a tendency amongst Star Citizens to allow themselves to be seduced with the newest shiny ship/feature and they are happy to forget past discretions if they approve of what they are currently seeing. The community propagates this type of thinking as well, the subreddit gets flooded with all sorts of posts which advocate spending money, something I find very weird.

As was mentioned a few pages back, they could simply do 2016's presentation again and the fans would lap it up. They would laugh endearingly about the balls on CR for doing such a thing (industry first baby!!) and they would open their wallets because they are sucked in hook, line and sinker.

Latest schedule is out. They've removed the estimated release date. Looks like still a way off too. I'll go 2018 :)

I can't really disagree there.

I know nothing about game development, apart from what I learned from my fishtank. The thing is though, it seems CIG don't know either.

Having actual CIG devs state that unwanted conditions are caused by "ship manufacturers" will baffle me endlessly.
