Planets are fast

So i just had a mission to take someone to the crab nebula expedition. The planet it is attached to was moveing so fast that when it slowed me the planet was moveing faster than i could go at all. I had to go in its path the other way to get it. That was nuts

Not sure if its the same now, but Enceladus used to be faster than my ship when I exited supercruise, back in Horizons Beta. The only solution was to go ahead of it in supercruise, and let it 'crash' into me, and then it drops me relative to it, much like Mitterland.

Whats crazy about Mitterand's Hollow is New Africa is populated... can you imagine the tidal forces involved with a moon orbiting that quick that low? To be fair, they should both orbit each other at that range, but still. High Tide lasts 35 seconds!!!

The Crab Nebula Expedition started from Mitterland Hollow... What a place to start from! It was the first Expedition that I took part in and it was a great experience. Mitterland Hollow is a place you should really visit if you haven't been there. As you say, its an experience! Just fly around the orbit of Mitterland Hollow the opposite direction to the planet, its the only way to 'catch' it! Then find a cosy spot and watch the world spin around you every minute or so!

A huge number of planets/moons are like this.

If you drop out of SC far enough away to be in the star's, rather than the planet's, frame of reference you'll never be able to catch most of them without SC. Earth travels through space at 30,000 m/s. The fastest you can get any ship in the game is sub-900m/s.

Just over two days left in the "Prison Brake" race (see my sig) in which you have to land on Mitterand Hollow, at speed!

All are welcome and it's terrific fun!
