Sitting on the floor and too far back

Hi

Loading up ED for the second time in VR mode with a Rift. I'm sitting in my chair and finding that I'm kind of on the floor and the menus etc. are way above me. When I start, and find myself in the cockput, i'm sitting way back through the chair and really low down. Weird thing the first time i switched from normal to VR it was brilliant.

How do I 'recentre' myself?

Sounds like you just need to center the camera. I think F12 is the default.

I've found that the orientation and position is totally borked every time I start ED, so it's good to get in the habit of re-centering often. I have it mapped to a button I can reach whenever I need to, but if you can feel around for F12 on the keyboard, that works too. It might be useful to map it to buttons on the HOTAS, if you're using one of those.

I recenter every time I start ED and then I'm good until the next time I log in. As stated above you can just hit F12 once your in seat or you can use the Oculus remote. Just hit the Oculus menu button and then choose recenter app view. I find the remote easier than finding the F12 button.

Check out voice attack - then just say 'recenter' or whatever and it'll do the F12 pressing for you

It's good like that. Does other things too. Well worth the small fee and works lovely with the Rift's built-in mic.

Likely it registers where you store your hmd as the home position, thats what mine does if i start the game without the hmd on.

I always recenter anyway, im always sitting slightly off when the game starts. And i like to lean forward a little so i ge the virtual arms a little furter forward, just enough so i dont see the neck or clip into the headrest.

This----^. Create a simple VA press key command. I use "Center View".

If the F12 key doesn't work for any reason, can bind the Left Alt key in controller settings and use that key for the VA command.

Brilliant - thanks everyone. I didn't know about F12 at all. I found out i could go to the Oculus menu and recenter, but it only seemed to work if i exited ED first. F12 in game (or VA 'recenter') is just the trick.

Back to VR Elite...amazing experience...
