:D

Well, they enabled me to save money, so...

Ha, how's that for logic - I "saved money" by spending $400 :)

I should run for congress.

You got it? XD hell yeah! And the price it's as low as you can get it, really good deal. Prepare to get your mind blowed away as soon as you will seat IN your cockpit bud!

Ha ha ha! I'm picking it up soon - will be in VR by this evening (remember, exercise, dogs, and diet come first!).

I can't wait!!!! :D

DUDE!!!!

I just played the Oculus First Contact thing - right after you set up your headset!

When a piece of technology can have me completely engrossed in another world, standing in my house proclaiming loudly "This is expletive insane! This is amazing!", I know it was a good buy!!!!

:D

Try Apollo 11. It's an interactive documentary about the mission. Highly recommend. And welcome to our world xD

Welcome to VR and enjoy those first moments. It still be awesome in 6 months but those first moments are just the best :)

Bud, the next step (and you will feel the need for it soon) is to purchase an HOTAS and fix it to your chair with some cheap support. It will increase immersion a lot and the comfort factor will skyrocket

I think it will be a while for that :)

I'm doing pretty well with the KB - the way I have it mapped works really well for sightless navigation.

What's really irking me is the Galaxy and System maps at the moment.

I suggest getting a hotas BEFORE VR.
You wouldn't drive a car with a keyboard so why would you with a space fighter?

Ha ha! Another convert. Welcome aboard. When you try Elite don't forget that you can get out of your chair. Try lying face down on the floor to gaze out at space (maybe park near a star with nice solar flares to watch). Another good one is to engage a docking computer and then just stand next to your chair as the ship flies in.

Also ... in due course ... you MUST get Lone Echo. Seriously, it's just

We'll see how it goes. So far I'm not having any issues, and I've never been a joystick fan.

Thanks! Will do!

Now that I've gotten the hang of things... I think I'm going to go uber-engineer an Eagle :)

As for the Gal Map... there has to be a better way. This thing in VR is terrible.

That's why you need a HOTAS m'afraid.

Galaxy Map is astonishingly cool in VR when you have it properly setup and mapped to a HOTAS.

You might want to pick up voice attack too...

Dude, do your self a favor ad hop in a T9, stand behind the pilot chair and have a look around :D.

Also try docking with dock computer while standing and looking around ;)

OH and the scarab! (just set the option to keep the horizont stady...)

One thing I'm having a little trouble with is the HUD text can be hard to read... like the pixelation is causing issues.

Is there a setting that can help that?

For the record, I'm running this thing in ultra with super sampling at .65 and shadows at medium.

Within your Graphics options there's your "QUALITY" options, and a sub-option of that is "HMD IMAGE QUALITY". Tweak that to your desired setting. My computer isn't too powerful so I got it set at ×1.25

It is a shame about the controls for the Galactic Map, but that is the very small fly in the absolutely fantastic ointment. You should have a gamepad included in your package. I'd suggest you use that for the map. You can use all your normal control inputs for everything else.

Welcome to the world of VR gaming. Even after a year I still get "Jesus Christ!" moments when I see starlight filtering through an asteroid field. I do believe it's the scenery that keeps me mining.

Try VR medium or high, supersampling 1.0 hud at 1.0. Depth of field off (not needed in VR, since it is true 3D). Bloom off (will help a lot against God rays). Also, EDprofiler it's a neat utility that will help you create presets for VR and 2D without needing for fiddling with settings every time. With Ed profiler set red color for hud at 0.5 instead of 1 and reduce hud brightness. Unfortunately I don't recall all the settings and won't have no access to my pc for the next 13 days.. (cry out loud in 2D...:D)
