Title.

Am I missing something? This has nothing to do with the engineer, just access to the system.

You were right good sir.

Found the mission in one of Procyon's stations that weren't under Sirius control. Those that were are under lockdown.

I now have the permit! :)

That's interesting - which station?

I understood it would need to be a sirius controlled station - makes the Sirius Business mission even more pointless ;)

One of the middle two. Whatever the case, I have the permit. For me the case is closed.

I found that the permit mission was only randomly there after you were allied. Had to resort to mode switching. Bit lame :(

Will be interesting to see if you can get the Marco invite while Sirius Corp is in lockdown.

Probably not. But as I understand it, lockdown has a cool-off period once finished?

Whatever the case, I'm always going to have access to Sirius Corp' in some format now, as they can't be kicked out of the Sirius system, as per the rules of the BGS. (No faction can be "deleted")

Whether the permit is available should be irrelevant to getting the invite : I've had invites to engineers where I didn't have the permit at the time (alioth, lucky I had plenty of exploration data at the time). Just need to reach grade 4 with martuuk and invite should pop.

For qwent you need the sirius permit, then you go to a station in sirius where they give you another mission, then you complete that mission and then the invite turns up!

All rather convoluted, and can't be done via a sirius controlled station in lockdown annoyingly!

No - you get the invite, then you need the permit to deliver good. You have cause & effect mixed up.

This.

Like with all missions, you're somewhat at the mercy of the RNG.
I recall, when I got the Sirius permit, the invite mission was often visible at whatever station I was using to gain Sirius Corp rep' although it was always showing as "unavailable" because my rep' wasn't high enough.
And then, when I finally reached allied status (or whatever it was) the bloody invite mission had vanished.

Actually I think Meric is correct.

You get the introduction to Qwent when you reach G3 with Martuk, then you need to get allied with Sirius Corp, get the permit (you can already have got this of course). Once you get the permit you get a mission to deliver some data, and then the actual invite from Qwent pops up.

That's what happened with me.

Just got mine. Don't waste your time on Avik. The faction there is Sirius Free, not Sirius Corp and they don't seem to be issuing the permit. I got allied with them by shooting at things at the Nav Beacon in the system (got some mats from that, so it wasn't a total waste of time), I've done plenty of missions for them, no joy. I moved to Luyten's Star, Ashby City. Had to start over the whole process, but got allied with Sirius Corporations there within about 20 missions. I could see the permit not being available until then but as soon as I got allied and got back to Ashby City:

Now off for some modular terminals...

Congratulations dude. How'd you do it? I got my permit by selling to UC.

Cartography

I got allied with Sirius Corporation by dumping 30MCr of planetary scans on them in Davy Dock, Procyon. Then I went to Luyten's Star and logged out and in until the permit appeared. I'm off to the dog star!

Now, modular terminals …

Data delivery missions. And 3 or 4 charity donations. It took a bit of the evening yesterday and today morning, so not much of a grind. If I didn't go to Avik, that would go much quicker.
