Finally made the switch to PC, help me out.

Hello fellow commanders o7. Today is the day I finally made the switch from Xbox One to PC. I have put many fun hours and lots of grinding into Xbox Elite Dangerous, but now its time to start fresh!

Anyone care to give me some tips on starting off in my sidewinder, some tips for quick cash to get me started? Its weird starting with nothing again.

See you around and fly safe. [wink]

Bounty hunting!
Just head to the next nav beacon. Make sure you have the cops in your back.
Never shoot before you see the 'wanted'

Is there no way to ask for a transfer of your account from xbox to pc ?
Anyway :p Missions to get a -> Combat ship -> bounty Hunting to get a-> trade ship -> Trade to get a-> "whatever" -> ??? to make -> profit ? -> Corvette + Cutter = :S

Blaze your own trail, commander.

Or try mining. Great way to zen out and get the muscle memory back. If you haven't gone full HOTAS yet, give it some serious thought. Night and day.

Be prepared to die and re-buy, but don't give up!

Bounty hunting is a way for some steady CR and aim to get a Vulture.

Figure out if you want to do Fed or Imp and stay w/ the one you pick, both sides have their pluses and minuses, I went Fed and didn't regret it, I love my Corvette but others feel the same way for a Cutter.

It will take a while, just be patient and persevere.

The question: Open or Solo?

I did Solo for a time but now fly 99% in Open. If you exercise some caution, Open is fine and the danger adds quite a bit to the game. Others disagree, this is my personal view.

Whatever you do, enjoy!

I've made a lot of credits via trading CGs. You can often rack up millions, for just a few hours work. CGs are hot-spots, so I recommend playing in Solo, regardless of whether or not you usually play in Open.

If you stay in one area and build reputation with the local factions, missions can pay very well.

Once you've got a decent ship for exploration, the "Ancient Ruins" mission can net you 111 million credits for ~8-15 hours of effort and you can repeat it, as often as you like.

Run some passenger missions. Easy money with very little risk as long as you stay away from transporting criminals. Honk every system you go to for the bonus exploration credits.

- Start off with some missions - if you get lucky, you can get missions well within the scope of a Sidey which pay out 200-300 kCr. Just be careful on those "destroy generator" missions on anything but a "+" base....

- get A-rated thrusters and FSD for your Sidey and at least an ADS. If you can't afford the ADS right away, check out the "road to riches" in one of its incarnations (i.e. scan WWs and ELWs in/close to the bubble). Then do the trip to the Pleiades to get the Meta-Alloy for Felicity (and maybe pick up Elvira's relics on the way back). The scans from that trip will be enough to unlock both of them.

- now get the enhanced thrusters for your Sidey and let the two girls upgrade everything else

- now you're ready to hit the RES

Welcome to the freedom for escaping arcade gaming ;) It's a big and difficult step you did, congratulations (did the same some time ago from PSx)!

Now, get Hotas, pedals, head traker, discord/ts and become a real pilot ;))) If you get melancholic one day for the Earth you are more than welcome to try DCS or IL2 series and get an adrenaline rush you'll never find on low G planets without atmosphere.

P.S it doesn't have to be expensive - TM16000 set is very good and with nice price. Tracker you can DIY or get for ~50 from various places..

Courier missions to A-rate the Sidey. Advanced Discovery scanner and Surface scanner. Install ED Pathfinder and build a route to scan Earth Likes and Water Worlds.

Just do missions and trading in Eravate. You'll be on your way in days.

Sidey, Hauler, Cobra, Type 6, Vulture... etc

Do enough smuggles in the starting systems to get an advanced discovery scanner and A FSD, then pretty much head straight for Quince (the exploration data from the trip out should net you a decent profit and get you to Cordial with the local faction to start getting some missiongs) for Suicidewinder Planetary Scans, in 3-4 hours you should have enough creds for an Asp and whatever smaller combat ship you may dig.

I recently did the same thing.
Tip one, use the xbox controller.
2, get voice attack, seriously, it rocks :)
3, go to wu guinagi and start grinding missions down there, you'll make a ton of money and get empire rank, the planetary scan missions are all at the same place and turn into great payers.
4, but an advanced scanner and a surface scanner and honk your way around the bubble to earn loadsa money.
5 Settle back and enjoy the ride and try not to miss your xbox ships and stuff.

It has to be asked. PC specs?

Dunno about the OP, mine are a black fx8370 4GHz, 32G DDR3 ram, 500Gb ssd, 3tb hd, 2 gig NVidia gtx something graphics card, 4k monitor...Made it as a general purpose thing to play games, edit video and run Virtualbox on while I do some cybrary courses.

I switched for the sole reason that I was able to fly HOTAS on the PC. I had the credits transferred from my X-Box account. With that I purchased an Anaconda. In nearly a year I have not seen much need for a different ship.

Wow! That's now a general purpose games-playing computer? My computer is so out of date!

I'd suggest kill stealing at nav beacons and low RES sites, and take every community goal going. Getting up to the top 75% is usually fairly easy.

Another thing you could do although I wouldn't advise it seeing as you'd be doing yourself out of the fun of the challenge... throw yourself at the mercy of the Devs. If you don't ask you don't get. And if enough people ask, they may set up some sort of easy transfer system for people in the same predicament.
