New Planet Scanner

Greetings.

I am new to the game. I bought it when it came out on the PS4 and had a suggestion. I noticed there is a lot of unexplored worlds and decided to scan them. I even bought the advance planetary scanner to find them all and advance surface scanner so I could do level 3 scans. The issue is this. I spent 30 to 40 minutes scanning a large system and only made around 300k in credits. On top of that it is a little much that I have to be as close a 8 LS to some of these planets for them to even scan. My suggestion is this. Either raise the amount of credits made from scanning planets and suns to make the en devour more worth while or put a new surface scanner in the game so we can scan planets from any distance. You can still make it one at a time but it makes it a little less laborious and it would help out a lot especially when you have planets 236,336 LS away or more.

Yup, scanning is by mass, a large star is distant, a tiny moon is very close. You can put long-range OR scan speed on the scanner, with engineers.

But that's basically how exploration works, systems with boring planets just aren't worth much.

Yes, I see. If they at least made it faster I would be willing to scan more so we can get rid of a bunch of these unexplored planets. I don't have to get rich off of it. I just want to clean up some of these systems without taking forever and a day to do it.

This is where you have to choose what is better. Scan the whole system and whine about it. While other players love the vastness of space. Or you can use system map and pick the best planets to scan and jump to a new system so it doesn't take as long. You don't have to do the whole system if it takes it too long.

If systems were easy to scan, the first person to jump through there would have already DONE it.

The time investment is what keeps people from exploring very fast, and even then, many many systems in the bubble with stuff 100k ls away have already been scanned.

Bingo and that's my point. It has not been done because it is not worth it. Therefore they should make it quicker or worth the players time. I am not trying to "whine about it" like the other guy said. It is obvious most players feel the same way I do or it would have been done already. If something is not being done in a game there is a reason for it and this issue can be fixed.

On a side note the reason I care is because it would be nice to know the names of planets when you are in a system. It is kinda weird when someone tells you to take them some where and when you get there is just says "unexplored" even though there is a base sitting on that planet and the person that hired you told you to go there. I am not trying to lead in exploration or anything like that. I really just want names on planets and the names of the bases on said planets when you are in the system. If a better scanner or better pay outs is really a big deal then how about having the names on everything when you enter the system and have unexplored planets show up as a different color in the navigation menu or unexplored appear after the planet name.

It's unexplored in YOUR computer, your nav computer does not have a copy of every other nav computer. At least, that's what I am forced to infer.

That makes even less sense. I could see that being the case if I was exploring the universe but right now I am doing misions 200 light years or less from the capital of the faction I am pledged with. This is like having a map of America and the guy who sells it to you says the map is incomplete and I will have to fill it in as I go.

Now that we are at the core of the issue maybe they need to add in a way to download a complete map or at least a map of everything in a few hundred light years.
