Has anyone ever gotten there to save anyone more than just avenging them. every time i see one im like yay a bit of a fight, but i have never run into an active fight. usually just get there with a broken ship and another one that is now wanted. i was just wondering if you can get there and save someone or is that just one of those things.

Yeah I save them all the time as personal goals in RESs to make life fun.
The only daft thing is, is even if they're at 1% hull, they'll go back to mining....
It gets harder to save them as time goes on. Lol

I think he means the 'Weapons fire detected' USSes (correct me if I'm wrong, Cael). I'm not sure either what the possible states are on spawn, I seem to usually find a lone wanted ship too.
sorry yes that is what i mean. it would be nice to think you saved someone. i also get that normally you just stumble across it slowly would you be in time
There are also 'Distress Call' USSs where you can indeed save someone (well, NPCs at any rate). Doesn't stop them still sending out the distress call though, even after you've melted every attacking ship.
We could do with NPC's recognising when they've been saved, and offering rewards. Would add a good incentive to dropping in to weapons fire USSs.
