DB Tweets 2.75M ED Units....

I have a Steam account and don't launch it through the Steam GUI. I run the launcher directly so I don't show up on Steam stats. There's many folks out there who do the same so take those numbers with a grain of salt.

Of course, the actual numbers can only be better. But it already shows that the game is quite healthy. You can compare it directly to games like Elder Scrolls Online, which has very similar numbers.

Every video game message board I've ever been to has people saying that said game is dying. They're the internet equivalent of the man on the street corner with the sandwich board warning you that the end is nigh.

I'm really happy for FD's success. ED is special and not just a popular video game. It's so much more.

But it is dying.

Everything that exists is traveling along a timeline that leads to it's eventual demise.

It's called being alive....

We don't know the actual PC sales, only the ones on steam.

Oh, so when David stated 1 million on PC he meant only Steam, that's not including the Elite Store sales? That would make more sense to me and be more in line with what I'd expect, so it's probably closer to 1.5 - 2 mil for PC total.

I think Max is talking about Personal Computer sales, not Planet Coaster sales ;)

David didn't state anything about sales on PC, he talked about Planet Coaster...

We do know that ED sold 1 million times on Steam by looking at steam spy though...

David meant PC = Planet Coaster.

What's an "ED Franchise Unit"? Coloured lasers etc? Or an actual copy of the game?

Elite has sold 2.75M copies of the game.

Well...

pardon the question but: if ED sold over 1.000.000 copies ... where are those Cmdr?

Because on Steam only 4000 people plays...

Most likely ED success in eyes of FD is measured by active players, players coming back on regular basis, and very importantly MT sales. Units sold alone - with all scepticism regards Horizons worth and people requesting other, more interesting features before upgrading to expansions - confirms that ED is very healthy and is not going away any time soon.

If you want to express scepticism only because you think shrinking game will force FD to do your bidding - stop it. It is silly premise, but I know for some reason lot of gamers thinks it has some merit. Core improvements is coming. Thargoids is coming. Game is on right path. FD, keep it coming.

Regular measurements of ED stats show player login at very different times and actually are very spread out over whole week. There's estimate about 100k players playing on weekly basis on PC alone.

Also Milky Way galaxy is just huge.

ED sold 2.75 million copies in total, 1.000.000 on steam and ~ 100.000 players are actively playing on steam (logging in more than once in 2 weeks), which is quite healthy and comparable to other MMOs when we talk about active players / sold units.
The 4000 people you talk about are just those who are currently online, you need to understand that not everyone who plays the game is running it 24/7. I know, it sounds crazy.

BTW I am pretty sure that I explained that to you before.

Ahhhhhhhhh! Obvious now!

So 2.75M copies of ED have been sold across all platforms... Steam data seems to suggest about 1M of those were on Steam, so that means 1,75M are XBox, PS4, Mac and direct Frontier PC sales.

Console players unite and ask frontier to stop letting pc development hold the game back.
