Hi all you Elitists, is that what we are called ahhhh not sure....anyway.

Does anyone here play ED with the Saitek X-45, as I have not had the opportunity to play ED just yet but will in 2 days time I have the old X-45 and wonder if that stick will be ok or do I need to move in to the 21st Century and get something more up to date.

All the best.

Hi: yes i have the x45 and it worked just fine, but it's a little light on programmable switches, you can still use it just fine. But i got both the x55 rino and the x52 pro... after some testing i found the x52 was better then the rino, the x55 had a sloppy mess where tight control was required, while the x52 pro had better control.
if i were you i'd stick to your x45 if your used to it till you think you really need a new one.you can still use the keyboard.

Yeah I started with an x45 and programmed 2 modes so I could get most of the functions on it.

What I did like was the rudder control on the throttle; much better then the twist function on the stick in my new x55 (which I am loving in every other way!)

Thank you "Commanders" ;) for your replies it was interesting that "Snottydragon" didn't like the X55 but "Dogmeat" loves it, I suppose it`s all a matter of taste.

Well I will give it a go with my X45 and if its too painful will maybe go for a T16000M or save up for a X52 Pro.

Trying to remember what I played the original BBC Micro ELITE with, I think it was a little Atari joystick?

Anyway thanks again all.

You should RMA that X-55. It should be significantly better than an X-52 Pro.
