Cat's Eye. What Cat's Eye?

KK, so after 9 days of flying from Sol to the so-called "Cat's Eye", scanning every single body in every single system (over 210), I arrived at the passenger mission destination. The Cat's Eye. But why is it called the Cat's Eye? There's absolutely nothing to see here. There are three black holes, which you can't see, and I guess you wouldn't be able to see them, though I have flown to Sag A* in the PC version, and you can certainly see the black hole there. Like I said I can understand why I can't see these three black holes here, but why is it called the Cat's Eye? The data beacon here states that the original founder could see this baleful Eye. Yeah? What was he taking? [haha]

The Cat's Eye Nebula is a real thing. Kinda looks like a cat's eye.

dont forget, this nebula was named from earth many centuries prior. from earth it looks alot like a cats eye, but as we've seen with other heavenly bodies and constellations, location matters. once you approach it just looks like a cloud of dust.

Sightseeing missions crack me up; You fly out to a beacon in the middle of nowhere... sit there for about 30 seconds... and then they're like "That was great! Take me home."

I prefer the planet-based ones where you actually see something (ice guysers, etc...). I usually try to land and snap a screenshot.

Yes, I'd like missions where you have to land on a planet, get you and your passenger into your SRV, and drive about for a set amount of time or distance. At least it gives a sense of purpose. Whenever I get asked to visit a planet surface object, such as a geyser, I land 2Km from the beacon then get into my SRV and drive to the beacon, being careful not to travel beyond 2.19 km from my ship, lest it auto dismisses.

Problem with any mission system is that humans quickly see the pattern. To make interesting missions for humans you would need another human (expensive/slow) or an advanced AI (skynet). So we get missions following simple templates which we see and get bored with.

Hey ho, still quite fun ;)

KK, it's just gone midday, I've been to the gym and now it's time to start my journal back to Sol. Approximately 210 jumps to do, scanning every astronomical body, except asteroids, in every system on the way back. Took me 9 days to do th same on the outbound trip.

So, after travelling 14K Ly and scanning every astronomical body in every system I jumped into, commencing 8 August, I have just arrived back in Sol.

I made 98 million kronor for my exploration data, been promoted to Pioneer exploration rank and I am now 100% Allied to the Federation. Yay!!
