Hardware & Technical Dual-core CPU, GTX 750; run Beta or don't even bother?

From what I have read on the website system requirements it says Quad core required. But some people on the forums have said they have run on dual core CPU's okay?

Edit:

I have a dual core and a GTX 750 graphics card, It runs fine.

They posted recommended specs. I'm sure it will run on a half decent dual core, but obviously at reduced settings.

Here's what's recommended as a minimum but FD is making improvements to their code so you may be fine...

Direct X 11
Quad Core CPU (4 x 2Ghz is a reasonable minimum)
2 GB System RAM (more is always better)
DX 10 hardware GPU with 1GB video ram

E8400 dual core + 560ti here and the game runs pretty well so far: some stuttering near ringed planets (but it's the same even for better rigs), fps drop significantly while in zoomed out galaxy map, but framerate is pretty solid elsewhere (never under 40fps in heavy battles)

I have:
AMD Athlon II x2 240 2.80 ghz
4gb ram
64 bit windows 7
Graphics card: GTX 750 with 1gb

Anyone playing the latest beta in single-player can tell me how the performance is on dual-core or with the GTX 750?
Don't know how this compares but when I run World of Tanks I cannot run in the "high detail" mode, I have to turn everything down. So that made me wonder if I bought the July 29th beta if I'd be unable to play on this computer.

I don't know, but I have a GTX 550 ti and can play the game in the highest graphical mode. (intel i7 2500 3.6 ghz) without any problems.
But at the moment the graphics are not state of the art. So I suppose you will have no problems. But maybe that will change in time

it runs at 30 fps plus on my i3 3.3 dual core and gtx750 ti 2gb. however my cpu shows up as quad core in windows and elite uses all of them _ not sure how important thatbis. my graphics settingsbare on high andbat 1980x1200.

No, that is the current recommended specifications.

Minimum specs haven't been posted as the game is still in flux, and being optimised.

While we may assume optimisations will bring the minimum spec list down, the flux part will possibly raise the specs as an increasing number of sophisticated graphical techniques will be added which will consume CPU and GPU cycles and therefore take performance in the opposite direction
(newsletter #33).

I would still reckon by release a dual core with a half decent cycle will still be able to play the game, on whatever graphical setting the game will allow.

Work on my Core 2 Duo X9000@3.04Ghz and 9800mGTX SLI

40 up to 60Fps in free space
20-30Fps in combats
15-20Fps in station

Only in sinlge player

I don't get to play multiplayer yet but all of the single player scenarios work great for me. I can't say that I noticed any stuttering or lag but there was no internet connection to worry about yet. WoT plays fine but Neverwinter was way laggy in Boss fights. Have to see how bad it will be in ED tomorrow.

If you need another comparison I also have :

- an old Q6600+8800GTX rig and the game runs far worse on it, apart from galaxy map
- a brand new Dell Latitude laptop with i5+750m in it and it's quite on par with the E8400+560ti desktop with just less fps at max graphic settings

Hi I run without issues on a Duel Core (Up to 98fps)
Processor = Intel Duo E6850 @ 3Ghz each core - Windows 7 - Score 6.4
Graphics Card = MSI GTX760 4GB - Windows 7 Score 7.9
8GB Memory all running 64bit

I was thinking about upgrading my CPU anyway but to be fair, mine is running fine.

Hope that Helps

i was unable to multi from alpha 2.2 till Pbeta2.02 , so i feel for you.
even then it was as crashie as a ... errr ... crashie thing with an average flight taking about 1 1/4 hours with many repetes of super cruse.
but something has changed around the weekend , either on their side or less likely some peeps lag was causing it and are no longer online. as it stands most flights are under 15 mins.

if you can give it another try

Gaaah. So that's why I've been hopelessly confused by the fact people can run the game despite being below the specs given on the forums/website.

Nothing like calling recommended specs minimum specs.

*Gets angry because would have bought Beta if had known*

i am running it at 1280 x 1024 at high graphics settings. a bit of a slowdown if you use msaa as opposed to fxaa .

my specs are Dual core 3ghz intel, with gts 450 graphics, 6gb ram(ddr2 800), 64bit windows 7 :)

I usually play the game on my main desktop PC (specs in sig) which, surprise surprise, breezes through it at 2560x1440 with full MSAA. But I also have a laptop which has much lower specs, a Core i3 (forget which but it's comparable to your Athlon II X2 240), 6GB RAM and integrated Core i3 on-die graphics. The game needs some of the graphics options turned down or off, but it still plays well, so you should be fine playing the game on your system.

Whoa, identical HW specs with my old box which I'm giving my kids to play with - Now you're tempting me to try E: D on it too! :D

Update to my OP:
I'm in for the Beta
Playing single-player combat scenarios it runs fine, at whatever settings the game had when it installed.
