not run into any human players

No, space is just really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. really.. big.

You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.

No doubt a letter from the solicitors of Douglas Adams' estate is on it's way as we speak..... ;)

I often go weeks without seeing another person.
On the other hand, I often go weeks without not seeing another person - it just depends what I'm doing and where.
As stated, CG's are often very populated places. Engineer bases see regular traffic as well, otherwise, space is big, people are small.

been playing on pc since last night is the pc versions polularity low?

basically the game is highly fragmented with large private group solo global time differences. games instancing. Some players are so happy happy when they meet another human player even if they are pirates :)

I explored the experience of "OPEN" when I was new. Its ok, aside from annoying Pyrates who think they are in control of something. But, why even take the risk, when you can get everything done in your own private Space without the hassel.

I find this hard to believe. It is impossible to survive for more than two minutes in Open before you are swarmed by teenage greifers (who are RL criminals) who will melt you with engineered superlazors in seconds.

Or so I've heard...

Open is extremely populated, in any CG there are more CMDRs than npcs in supercruise.

Enable port forwarding on your router, helps tremendously.
