So Anno 1800 was announced at Gamescom:

I got into the series very late, picking it up with Anno 2205. That game was quite, erm.... controversial.... with fans. Personally I adored it, but some people thought it strayed too far from the established formula.

I'm looking forward to what they do with 1800. I'm a little sad they didn't keep with the future aesthetic from 2205, possibly going even further out. Ah well.

I just saw the trailer a few hours ago.

I liked most of the previous anno games, I'm glad they gone back to a more "historic" take, although I also enjoyed 2070.

The 19th century is somewhat unexplored in this kind of games, it will be interesting to see.

Anno 1404 was the best. Good quality. Made with a love for detail. Playful.
Then they shove their (strong words in here) Ubiplay stuff with that Anno 2070 joke. You think I'm exaggerating? Well, try the combat and watch the AI insta respawn their bases. I haven't even looked at the last one because they removed the on map combat altogether.

Anno 1404 was just...one of those games where all things just line up perfectly to create THAT game. Hard to explain. It's magic. I've actually pulled a sickie to stay at home and play this game for two days with barely any sleep :D I'm not proud of it, but there was a moment I thought I'd never find a better strategy game. And then other games in a series happened...and they were so meh. I just wish something amazing happens again, stars align and they produce one more perfect game. Even though it's Ubi, and their reputation in recent years isn't great I know they can make good games. They did, and they still do. Not very often. I just feel like all their corporate money grabbing marketing has some amazing talented developers behind, trying to make fantastic games.

1404 was good, but as the game progresses, at some point it required so much micromanagement that my brain was full of... well, you know. ;)

But this is good news, maybe i have to get another brain filler.. :D

Interesting...I was just looking for Anno 1404(and other older games of the series, before 2*** fiasco) to immerse myself in nostalgia, and...there aren't any. And most interesting - not even on Uplay. You know why? For some reason 1404 goes by the name of Dawn Of Discovery, and is available on Steam with Venice expansion. Anybody care to explain what's up with rebranding?

"Dawn of Discovery" is its name for North America market. (Which was discovered in 1492...)
