Subnautica

My back up save is just a base built on the edge of the floating islands trench. No exploration of wreckages, absolutely no investigation of the Aurora or anything else. This save is 136MB big.

I doubt they go to the cloud.

By the way, how on earth do you get the Cyclops to the inactive lava zone at the moment? I can't find the entrance now that the path to the lost river is a bit overgrown.

no idea... you seem to have played a lot more than me..... tho this may have to change if it is now feature complete.

PS big complex saves are a pita when you get hdd failures - like i did - but hell i wish ED used similar, just think of the cool stuff we could have on our save if it was personalized to our own game...

To sit there playing this on the Oculus? Best with an XBox controller or are the Oculus controllers OK?

i have only played on xbox pad. it does not support motion controllers, so if it does work on touch (i have no idea) it will only be in pad emulation mode

it would be so cool if it supported motion controllers but it is very low down the list of "maybe in the future" features afaik

Groan, so when the original special pack dried up a few weeks ago, and folks told me the new pack which now doesn't include the Xbox controller and wireless dongle is fine as you don't need the controller for anything... Hmmm...

I found it. Just slightly north of the Aurora crash site. It is bloody awesome now. You go through, it's really dark, quiet, empty. And when you are getting close to the active lava zone you hear the distant roars of something huge and terrible waiting for you...

Ohh... now there are these "floater" things that attach themselves to your sub and start dragging it up. You have to get outside and hack them with a knife.

Last time I tried this on oculus I didn't like it at all. Head motion wasn't disconnected from directional movement, which made using the Seamoth or anything like that a real horrible experience.

Necrosis is an awesome underwater oculus game if you like that sort of thing.

I play it on pad.... but it does work on Keyboard and mouse.

it MAY work on touch with pad emulation mode but one way or another you can play it without an xbox pad.

Having now got an Oculus, I'll add this to my list.

And you can happily play it sitting in VR?

There was a 2GB update to this last night!

New tunnels under the lost river and lava zone, a new biome.

Performance enhancement! They reckon about 9%, so it'll still probably be a bit choppy for mid or low end systems but they're getting there.

New critters. Baby emperors and the ghost leviathan!

Cyclops is back to being more or less invulnerable to mid-sized animals like the bone sharks, thank god for that.

Ultra-high capacity air tanks!

Now this has been updated.... and now having an oculus... and the fact it can be played with oculus controllers.... I'm going to have to get this...

I have to say that next to Kerbal Space Program, Subnautica is the best early access investment I`v made so far. Great updates and communication from the devs all way long. Also game itself is a decent balance between survival and story plus it looks like J.C Avatar movie underwater. Optimization and in your face loading still needs some work.
