Adding another Guardian ruin site to the cluster around the Eta Carina Nebula: BLAE EORK RU-D D13-17 (1 A --> 3 sites)

I've been parked out here for a few weeks until I could get some uninterrupted hours to catalog the active obelisks. Then I saw in the Canonn reports that a CMDR Dan Elton found a very close neighbor site just a few days ago (BLAE EORK RU-D D13-20). Sorry I missed bumping into a fellow searcher, but also kinda glad my discovery didn't get scooped :D

I wish I could be everywhere to check, looks like they are in general Guardian Ruins area, there is tons of them next to bubble, but Factabulous found some next to ruins outside of this area (PRUA PHOE US-B D86) . I am slowly moving away from Col 173 sector and still finding trees, but single pilot cannot do much :)
Thargoid or not, please check things on your way back, you never know, fungal tree fruit sauce can go really good with human meat :)

To remind, look for landable volcanic body with temperature 209K-496K, fly in glide over splash crater, scanner setup to max range, look for POI.

If not already noted, the brain trees are definitely out here as well. I have taken breaks from ruin hunting to harvest the fungal growths for rare minerals.

So, I had been away from the game for a while after the discovery of the Zurara, and finally got back in the mood to pursue all this again this past week. I managed to get all the items and engineers I needed and headed over to one of the surface sites and toyed around, and saw what most of us have seen by now. However, I did notice that, on one occasion, when I deployed my SRV (I was ferrying ancient relics one by one to trigger the violent reaction), I heard what seemed like a garbled radio transmission. Is this just a part of the ambient background noise (obviously there's a lot of it, generally just creepy noises though)? Or has someone else heard this and already decoded something, and I've just not been able to find that post yet? I was at the SYNUEFE YP-X C17-1 5 C site.

Welcome to the new Canonn thread!

This new thread has been necessitated by the old thread getting too big (surprise :) ) which meant the old one would no longer function properly.

So here we go again.
Aliens ships have started visiting the Barnacles, what is that going to bring?

Nice finds [up]! Always thought that there should be more sites in Blae Eork, but wanted to finish scanning Skaudai first: 3000 systems later I'm nearly done ;) (There must be one more ruin in these last 600 sites )

Have you reported the Brain Tree locations on their thread https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Fumarole-Location-Catalog-and-Data-Collection ? (Just post, seems kinda disorganised). I know CMDR Baton was heading that way to look for trees.

Well..it confirms what I was thinking. Nobody knows "what" Raxxla is (in E: D lore)

As far as I know, there isn't a single person in ED lore that has admitted to have visited Raxxla.

In the ED lore the only person that tells us anything concrete about Raxxla, is Rafe Zetter. The problem is that he tells us in The Dark Wheel, which isn't strictly canon.

We have a second hand source in a non canon book, that tells us that Raxxla is a planet with an alien built portal to another universe. He also tells us that Dark Wheel member Jason Ryder fond evidence of Raxxla's existence(he never actually went there) and was promptly killed for his efforts.
It's not clear that The Dark Wheel got the info on Raxxla from Jason. It may died with him. Most likely, even The Dark Wheel don't know how to get there.

Rafe speculates that there are people on Raxxla already and that they are very protective of their secret.

He also says: 'unless you become Elite, you'll never get to Raxxla', whatever that may mean?

Mentions of Raxxla in Premonition, is mostly people saying they don't believe it exists.

Would be nice to put a spreadsheet up for Brain Trees, I can create one, but I am not organised enough to manage it :)
I was contemplating going to Eta Carina yesterday, but after reading Commanjo post I put it on hold, brain trees are not so special anymore, so making a long trip just to look around can wait till weekend maybe, especially if somebody is already looking there :)

There were statements from FDev on numerous occasions claiming the Guardian Puzzle is working as intended. These statements were later proved to be, ahem, erroneous. So, again, statements (even FDev statements) cannot be considered evidence of anything.

There is a difference between "Raxxla is in game." and "This is working as intended, oops sorry its bugged." Stating something mythical exists is evidence enough for us to believe when it comes from FDev. When they say "working as intended" or "Soon" we take that with a grain of salt because it very well could be bugged and they need more info and Soon is never really soon enough. Its all in the context of the statement.

Thx for the summary ! :)

So 'nothing' (besides a few sterile words from DB and MB) in Elite: Dangerous

There have been a few in-game hints, in the form of mission texts. Mainly this one, that is/was? available to Elite explorers:

MarcosTheBlack has made a nice summary of all those 'mysterious Elite missions' in the Raxxla thread.

This is my thinking as well with regards to statements being evidence. Saying something in game is an absolute and can be taken at face value. So, working or not, permit locked or not, inaccessible or not, it's in game. Why would he say that otherwise? Anything less is a flat out lie. So seeing as there is nothing subjective about that statement I'm inclined to agree with Unbreakable here.

EDIT: Can't rep you again so you will have to take some virtual rep ;)

It may be very well in the game but the question is: what can you do with it? Can you tell it's Raxxla after honking the system? Probably not. Can you tell it's Raxxla after performing a DSS on it? Probably not. Do you expect the system map to tell you 'HERE BE RAXXLA - RIGHT ON, COMMANDER!". Probably not. Does it have any additional content that can be interacted with? Mysterious stations in orbit? Menacing ships patrolling the system? No one knows. Except FDev.

My point is, the statement 'Raxxla is in game" is a very ambiguous one. All it takes to make it a true statement is to have a developer pick a remote ELW planet and write its name in the design documentation with a note "This planet is/will be Raxxla" and then the following become true:

A - It's in the game.
B - FDev knows where it is.
C - It can be found.

Except you won't know you have found it.

That's 2 pretty big assumptions you're making there :)

Agreed, I can't really see any reason to think the statements about Raxxla are false.

I also don't think FD are going to be daft on this one. It's going to be a long time before the game's going to be able to deliver on people's expectations for Raxxla and so I can't see it being discoverable (at least not in a meaningful way) at present.

Otherwise I'd imagine it going down in the annals something like this:

"And lo, in the year 3303 did occur the discovery of the fabled Raxxla.

And the legends were indeed true, Raxxla was a gateway to another universe.

A universe composed entirely of sodium chloride.

And there was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth.

And the silos did overfloweth and all did wither and die.

Thus did perish our universe."

;)

Well AFAIK that mission and the other original Elite/Founder missions haven't been in-game since 1.5/2.0 and the missions board refactor.
I've been asking about their status since then, but with no answer from the several QAs and Devs that have now said that they'll find out.

I'd like to be able to do those missions, not least having paid a premium for the "Founding Member of the Elite" KS pledge.
I'm pretty frustrated that these Elite/Founder missions have been lost for 2 years and FD apparently won't address the situation.
There was only about 2000 of us who backed at the higher tiers to get access to these missions due to our FMotE status - so I guess we're small-fry on the priorities list.

But these missions were an extra incentive for everyone else to reach Elite ranking too, and hinted at extra storylines/mysteries/content to discover such as Raxxla.
So if anyone else cares about these missions then please can I encourage you to add your voice and see if we can get them back in game?
I've asked again in the 2.4 Beta discussion area: link.

Thanks.

(Yeah I am pretty grumpy by now about them still being missing, sorry if it shows. I wouldn't have paid +£50 just to get a decal - the whole KS tier was treated as an afterthought when we complained after launch. For those unaware, we even had to argue to get the promised golden 'Founder' decal into 1.3 and since then have been totally forgotten, despite the promises of "more to come". Very poor show FD. Perhaps for 3.0 you can remember your Backers and the promises you made too?)
