Farragut Class Battleship?

Hi

Last night I dropped out of SC at a signal and came apon this huge Farragut Class Battleship fighting a system security ship. I killed 3 pirate cobras and went in for a closer look. I did not fire at the massive ship at all, but he started to attack and he did some serious damage quick.

Who are these guys and why did they attack me? When I scanned it, it came up as Elite Pirates, but no wanted text. Should I have returned fire? Can someone please tell me what happend there?

Personally if I saw one I would definitely attack it and try to kill it. If for no other reason than to see if I could kill it.

They are impossible to "kill" and have an exclusion zone that if you enter they will warn you to leave or die. Pirate ones of course won't warn you since they're pirates that stole a Federation capital ship. Anyway if you want to see one up close go to Earth. That's the only one that doesn't care if you touch it.

Yup there are Pirate controlled capital ships and you killed his buddies. You can shoot out the heatsinks and force the capital ship to jump but you cannot destroy it currently.

You can force them to leave by taking out their heat vents. I've been hoping to see one come into a CZ like a pimp and start slapping hoes but hasn't happen yet.

Wonder when we'll be able to purchase one of those bad boys. I want one. It will be a personal station. I'll dock all my ships in it and just fly around blowing up other stations, launching my ships as though they were SLF's.

Well I had a very good idea that I would be looking at a rebuy screen if I attacked. Hopefully we can destroy them in the future. Would be super cool to wing up and take him ou together and share a super massive reward.

Pretty far. But they use the old hyperspace tech, so one max range jump takes a week.

FDev have said pilotable Capital ships are 'on the list'.. But a long, long way down.

Man do they care! I Tell you, the Cruiser in Earth orbit had me fried in 20sec because I had heard they don´t care... I flew straight alongside close quarter to have a look and when I was half way the warned me once and started to fire right away. While backing off quickly they had my shields down and the hull at >60% the rest was finished by the fighters they launched on my while I tried to evade the gunfire...

All in all, not a good idea to come close to it...

Lol yeah usually takes about 27 from where I'm currently at, but I do it when there's massacre missions. It sure beats flying the fdl there lol. Though I'd just transport the fdl if I were going to use it.
