What ED Planetary Landings could be like in the future.

Tried Aircar Demo via Oculus store and thought.... (refer to title)
I advise all vr owners to try this at least, (its free).
If you have not already.

Yes! This demo was amazing. The immersion and atmosphere were very Blade Runner future. The rain effects really added to the experience.

From what I heard on VR Roundtable podcast, this was one guy who is a 3D graphic designer or modeler and wanted to make a 3D environment for his portfolio. He has limited coding skills so didn't make a full game, but the reception to Aircar took off so he wants to fill it out now.

I'll buy.

This is a must try for all Elite VR fans! And FD devs too! Be sure to give it a review in he Oculus store.

I would hope for a lot more honestly.

Incredibly low detailed.
The city you fly around is barely more detailed than Google earth and its 3d buildings.
Most of the other flying ships consist entirely of TWO polygons and a texture for crying out loud.

Interestingly, I sometimes think the complexity if Elite's geometry sometimes works against it's sense of scale and solidity.

Yeah, I hope they won't sacrifice scale for detail. I would much rather have hugely complex cities and forests that look huge and great from a distance than hugely detailed buildings that I can go in and trees where every leaf casts a shadow.

Aircar for great flight around a city, the ISS demo by NASA for awesome weightless movement inside a ship.
Still no demo of a walk or run I have seen YET, but maybe someone else has?
Elite in VR is a whole new game

ISS is pretty good. Lone Echo applies a layer of polish and immersion to that zero g movement and creates a whole new single player and multiplayer and benchmark for how floating around inside and outside your ship doing fixit and tinker work can be. I really hope FD has been trying all these games.

Agreed, lone echo is brilliant. But it is also just a few pence shy of forty quid. Worth it though! IMO, some great ideas that FD could use for interesting and challenging tasks we could do around our ships by way of problem solving maintenance issues.
