The Difference Between PvP and "Griefing"

Without PVP this game is basically "Space Engine" on steroids. A wallpaper simulator.

Nonsense.

It'd be exactly the same game with the only difference being that you'd only ever shoot at NPCs... which is exactly what the majority of players do already.

The fact that you think it would be a radically different game without PvP reveals just how skewed your perception is.
If you actually believe what you wrote.

So you say GreyAreaUK. If true, Frontier made a fundamental mistake, creating the ALL Group. A flaw. Somehow, I doubt they can't be so mistaken.

And be this as it may, we are down here to childish accusations back and forth.

Correct it should end. Hence the reason why I wanted it stuffed into one of the other endless Hotel California threads.

The gist of this entire argument can be surmised as thus.

Some people think this games only purpose is to provide a risk free player killing environment.

FDEV said no that is not correct.

People continue to kill others for no reason other than their own personal agenda.

FDEV see's that these people are negatively effecting the games image and its current player base.

People still continue to participate in random pointless player killing.

FDEV then scrambles and spends the next year and a half trying to balance combat to compensate.

It doesnt work and people continue to player kill for no in game reason.

FDEV has to resort to drastic measures. They no longer have the time to create content around being a criminal. They are loosing both face and credibility with the media and the majority of the player base. Then they have to put out the punishment for crimes out ahead of actually creating content around criminality. Hence the PF bounty system and crime tied to ship changes.

That is all this is. Its another step albeit out of logical order.

So this stink starts and the same thread is started for yet the 200th time. At least now we know for sure that there is a Crime and Punishment system being added to the game in the future. Some people dont like that so they are rolling out the same single minded rhetoric that they have been trying to convince people of since launch. Sadly they cant see the fact that the majority of the player base are not buying it and FDEV are no longer buying it nor defending them. Its a last ditch attempt at spreading the misery before they feel it for themselves. Eventually if FDEV continues down this path, those people may lose all in game assets. That would be the ultimate conclusion to a working functioning C&P system.

I guess FDEV doesnt like it when "Playing your way" kill the very game they are trying to create. Who knew.

Combat with NPCs in a semi engineered ship revolves around you being parked with 4-0-2 pips while blasting them with endless lasers, even semi engineered turrets can do the job without you even touching the keyboard. This is without prismatics thermal resist G5 with multiple boosters.
If this is the best that this game can throw at you, well my opinion remains.

Four or five different Sag A things that I know of and I go months without reading the main forum and usually avoid Hotel California, so the are probably more. Hotspot is OTT for Sag A however I was lumping it in with CG's and engineers which are definitely hotspots, but it's somewhere players will turn up therefore it's attractive to griefers.

Just switch to Mobius to visit anywhere like that, don't waste any time or effort on it at all.

Again with no proof. Go for it! You can do it! I know you want to say it! Tell me the moon is made out of cheese!!!! Someone might believe you if you wish upon a star hard enough.

Only to those who are too limited to see Elite as being something other than Unreal Tournament In Space. To the other 99% PvP is at worst an inconvenience, and at best an irrelevance.

Can't rep you more so heres some virtual +rep.

Seems like a contingent wants to reduce E|D to some "spaceship pewpew" game, which of course they have to be apex at. The rest of the gameplay, to them, is irrelevant. I guess they can't see any more to the game than that. E|D has always been a particular taste in games and definitely not a space-shooter game, although there is shooting.

You were twisting his words to suit your argument. That doesn't work. He can make his own case without you trying to put words in his mouth.

You both were talking about me. I replied to you both.

All youve done is argue over semantics. And derailing this thread into something else. Im done replying to you now, You go out of your way to ignore the topics at hand when the truth lies at your feet.

This has been a waste of time and energy.

Here's hoping frontier look at the meat of the problems within this thread. Good lord.

True.

However after enough hours, this game becomes a space shooter game, and preferable shooting other players because by that time it runs out of any other content.

I will be the first to jump into exploration (my highest rank - Pioneer currently) if there was something to explore.

Unfortunatly Frontier spent a lot of time developing PvP elements ...

seems it didn't go too well.

... still looking at Engineers , Piracy and Powerplay

True.

How many hours? Because I'm a couple of years into this game and still have no urge to shoot people.

And that would be why you dont see the imbalances people are talking about. You have no experience in the field. yet you have no problems voicing your opinion on the matter.

Which concludes this lesson for today.

700 hours.

Half of it spent on PVP related activities (enginners, re-rolls, farming credits etc)

I ran out of PVE content long time ago.

So essentially this boils down to you, personally, not liking the non-PvP aspects of the game.

Which is fine. It's also far, far away from being a universal truth.

I dont understand what imbalance is there?

Engineers are available to everyone, you dont want to fight, engineer your trade/exploration ship to survive and run. What imbalances?
