The Difference Between PvP and "Griefing"

Geesh. Who cares?
Open, Solo, PG, PvP, griefing, piracy, whatever.
Hard to believe that this dump still has these worthless debates when there are three modes.
Play your game the way you want.

Griefing is the act of irritating and angering people in video games through the use of destruction. Seems pretty straight forward to me. If you "PvP kill" someone, whether you justify it as pirating, PP, roleplay, lulz, or whatever, and it irritates them (aka they didn't want it), you are a griefer by definition. That term can only be applied by the "victim", if they don't care then it's not griefing is it?
The only difference here is that by playing in Open, you are effectively agreeing to take that risk, so you have no right to complain. Really, the menu option to play in Open should come with a checkbox that says "by agreeing to play in Open, you have no right to complain about what people may/may not do to you". Sheesh.

Can someone please confirm? I think all modes access the same database.

This has been the concept from the beginning. All modes are equally viable. Also read the wall of information. Read how the multiplayer works. All 3 modes pull info from the same servers, things like the BGS, planetary forge, matchmaking, etc. Player to player interaction is accomplished by Peer-to-Peer connections. The servers are mode blind. They don't care about mode. Modes merely change what Peer to Peer connections are allowed.

Its getting late I know, but we have to start somewhere. Alderius has some simple insights here, no deigning, we all know what OPEN implies.

We are not alone - there. Griefing is highly subjective. PVP IS in OPEN WELCOME. Because, its they only way doing PVP in ELITE, period.

If you try to be smart, arguing CQC, I slap you with a dead fish, be warned!

open isn't PvP mode. Otherwise it would be named "PvP mode."

Can you pvp in mobius outside of Combat zones? And even then Ive seen people get banned.

The only thing that separates the game modes is the ability to shoot others in open. You consent to it when you sign up for it knowing whats out there.

See this proves my point. You know the facts. And you are here to argue just for the sake of it.

Many people here are. And when someone comes asking for proper balance. People shoot it down or argue it for no reason.

People also come into these threads and and report every time something doesnt go their way. Or they say they were attacked. Crying wolf to get the mods to close the thread. Even if its only for a little while.

You see, ive been a moderator for a very long time. This is not my first rodeo. And I have no problem calling people out on their nonsense. Mods included.

Mobius isn't the only private group, you know. :)
You can set up a group for PvP yourself, if you wish.
