NPC discovered with Thargoid grade shield

Well, it seems her engineer screwed up after all, he made is SO unbelievably powerful, the mass increased close to that of a small star, hence it cannot move.

Was this in a Distress Call by any chance? If so they've been doing that for a while. It's a lazy mechanic, reminiscent of allied NPCs in early FPS that could take multiple grenade hits then just get up and walk on because the story demanded that they couldn't die.

Still, at least something managed to shave 2% off the hull on yours. :)

If this was anywhere other than a Distress Call I'd report it as a bug.

It was the CNB in Hecate. Already reported as bug.
I have only seen 3 of these since I started playing, so extremely rare.

Interesting. I didn't know that; I've only ever seen them in Distress Calls. Maybe the game spawns the wrong archetype on occasion? I still think it's lazy, even if in some scenarios it's intended. No ship should be invulnerable to damage.

I've come across lots of the invincible ships in RES sites, normally hazardous ones. Ships are normally iCourier, DBX, Vulture, or one of the vipers. Have been seeing them for ages now, but they are still very infrequent - they usually screw up the RES site though which ends up needing to be reset.
