It used to be easy to find but ages ago they changed it so that you need to be within 1000 ls for it to be visible as is the case with combat zones, hazres sites, etc. If you do get close enough it will appear as (I think) "ancient probe", you won't find it in any random USS. I did try once after the change using a video someone had posted to try and get the direction right but I wasn't successful. I'm sure some have found it since then though so it is possible.

I tried looking way back when I first got the Sol permit. Perhaps surprising, but randomly flying zig zags out passed Pluto didn't work.
I think I spent nearly an hour at full speed so I would have been way way passed too. But it was before joining the forums so I had no method/direction. Space was only 2D back then tooIt's way further than pluto.
