I'm a geek! (Train Simulator 2017)

A friend gave me a steam key for Train Simulator 2017 as a joke gift.. little did he know, I'm an enormous geek and have been loving every minute of being a train driver (even though I don't have a clue what I'm doing!).

It may have 2017 in the title, but the gfx are a bit 2012, so I've added a little ReShade magic, and made a montage video just because...

Anyone else a train sim fan.. or is it just me :p

I remember playing MS Train sim for hours, and I also have Train Sim on my Steam that I played for like 80h or so - its very fun and relaxing, I just really dont like low quality of some DLC locos that they have and lack updates/support for some (few of my addons have been broken for more than a year). Hope new version will have better dlc content.

Never really been into train sims.
But flying any type of aircraft, that's for me. Plus my mil-sims, got to love those, well I do anyway. ;)

I used to play Trainsim quite a bit. The Microsoft version had an annoying derailment bug, but the version you can download from Steam is very good indeed. A decent graphics card helps a lot.

The diesels are fairly easy to drive, but keeping the boiler pressure right in a steam locomotive can be a nightmare. Plus the signal sighting is often very poor.

I'm a volunteer Signalman on a heritage railway, and I've had a go driving a few diesels and steamers. The Train Simulator is surprisingly realistic.

This might be cool in VR if it had touch controls.

Update: I searched and found this. I may try this. Looks cool.

Hope Train Simulator 2017 one day supports VR

If it supported the touch controllers so you could reach out and touch the controls, that would be amazing. Train Sims are even more niche than Space Sims though, and I suspect it's demographic is mainly "older" gamers, so it might be a while before Trainsim gets a VR upgrade.
