Stupid Feds - Thargoid invasion was your fault!

I thought humanity was supposed to be coming together to survive the threat. Why is it then that so many imperial apologists are spending so much effort blaming and insulting the feds? Some feds are doing the same of course but it seems to be mostly imps.

Neither the feds nor the empire existed during the first thargoid war. That was on GalCop and INRA.

With all this infighting we stand no chance if it does come to mass pew-pew.

While the thargoids advance, feds and imps will be infighting, alliance will be profiteering, SDC will be harvesting salt and good ol' GluttonyFang will be chuckling in the background. (And I'd not blame him either)

Actually we should put Gluttony in charge of defence. Those Aussies have experience with giant insects wanting to kill them.

if its influenced by player interatcion as FD claim, that small subsect of the population unable to do anything except shoot guns at everything will determine it IS pewpew.

Err, we don't know how Homo sapiens treated Neanderthal (other than some inter breeding), so you can't really use that as a comparison :p ;).

The Federation existed since pretty much ever (2055). The INRA was a joint organisation of both the Federation and the Empire.

Doesn't matter, the older games are not 100% canon.

Just like the Alliance has been retconned out of helping the Thargies, even though it was clearly the intended ending at the time.

The Federation existed, it just didn't have an intergalactic police arm yet, which was a role filled by GalCop. Which became obsolete when the Federation and the Empire decided they wanted to play by their own rules when it comes to law enforcement.

Well if history has been retconned to blame the feds, then I'm sure you'll understand someone who was there realising that it's all imperial propaganda.
So much of that spewed out by both superpowers tbh, that it's impossible to trust a single thing they say. But I suppose either is better than the Alliance.

However, if it's a matter of survival, this infighting has to stop, because frankly, we're our own worst enemy right now.

Well IMHO the lack of slaves is the one thing they do right.
Those of them who don't anyway.
Even the feds outlaw slavery though corruption and workfare stuff...

Technically, it's possible to drive out corruption from the feds... In theory at least and getting rid of the warmonger would be a small start. The megacorps are a problem of course, but that's not only in the Federation. The Empire has its own issues, and Feudalism is one of the biggest. Not sure how to fix that one. Perhaps the thargoids will make it all moot.

Sure the Alliance has a better structure on paper, but they proven to be indecisive and untrustworthy from the start. How does one deal with a culture that tears up the contract as it leaves the meeting? Terrorists one and all. You'd be better off dealing with Delane's bunch... At least they have a reason to keep their hot heads under control.

What became the Empire and Alliance were part of it too. There's plenty of blame to go round.

GalCop just controlled a network of stations. They had no jurisdiction over any planets.

The Imperial navy gets mentioned in Elite 1, by the way. :)

Probably would have been Galactic Navy, since the constrictor was never an imperial ship. However, It's been way too long for me to remember, and though I have a copy to hand, there's no way I'm playing all the way through to check... So I'll have to take your word for it for now. Unless someone wants to hack at the old gamecode and pull the text?

If it's there I must accept it.. at least on the C-64.
However, if it refers to the Empire of Achenar, how does it mesh with the fact that Arissa LD is the *first* female ruler of the Empire? I mean, she's not hundreds of years old.
So it might refer to something else... like Braben & Bell referring to the Royal Navy. I have no answer to that, and to be fair it'd be digging way to deep for what is at best an academic discussion which will have little relevance moving on.
Saying that, you have more patience than me for finding the reference, so much kudos Commander.
