I thought I'd maybe create a poll of what your favourite ship is. I've taken a list from the FFE manual so if I've missed any we can add them to the list.

Boa Freighter.

Why it was called a freighter i don't know. Kit it out with a large laser, tons of shields, an energy booster and a naval ECM and it's a mobile battle station. Surprisingly fast for a huge ship and the HS range was pretty good too.
Perfect for mititary superiority during base bombing raids.

But that's obviously for end game. My favourite earlier ships are:

Viper mk 2.
Lightning fast, and driving a cop car makes me feel like i'm in Blues Brothers in Space.

Asp Explorer
Great assassin's ship.

Those 3 are all you need really, from start to end.


Shall we also vote on :

WORST SHIP
(excluding interplanetary shuttles)

I'd have to say Lion Transport.
Slow, no manouverability, bad HS range, not much space. Very ugly too.

I do like the big ole Panther clipper!

Quite fond of the Skeet for some reason though

If you're just talking FFE, then I won't vote, because I didn't play it enough to really make a decision.

But the first time I clapped eyes on a Constrictor in the original Elite I was in love. Admit it...it would be a real space-chick magnet. ;) Especially in black, with the evil teeth on the front. :D

Sorry I just put the FFE ships as that was the only list I had to hand.

I would have liked to do a poll, but they have a limit of 10 entries. But all ships in the Elite series should be included. maybe if we all did a top 10 and created a poll from them?

I'm assuming here that the Argent's Quest and Thargoid ships are not allowed? :p

I'd probably go along with the Asp - small enough to have a decent hyperdrive (and can be military too) but big enough to fit decent firepower. Only complaint is the one missile pylon - not the best when having to keep it free for the nuke. Don't wanna be firing that at a ship by mistake! :eek:

Because it was the first time I dared to dream about space way back in 1984, armed with the disk version for the bbcb computer I was unstoppable.
I would also like to vote for the python and my favorite "victim" as they used to just bob up and down until they popped, I tried for months to "dock" with them after they ejected the escape pod in the misbelieved thought that I’d be able to steal the unpiloted ship.

When i could cheat in FE2 and put loads of shields and a big engine in it it was a Falcon for me

Otherwise it has to be a Viper MK1 in black with my initials (my real name!) as the registration, I found one once and i've been looking ever since for another one.

Why does everyone pick the Imp Courier? are you all sheep? yes it's a good all round ship but be different for a change.

You know that you need to have your fear glands removed to pilot a Thargoid ship don't you?
