Modes WOW CGs in open have got really toxic haven't they!

How do you get a Cobra MK3 to 800m/s?

Mine's got thrusters with a 35.6% optimal multiplier, and mission-fit it does 589. As I main a Cobra and would like to make it safer (via speed), as even underweighting and underrating everything I can't get much over 600m/s. Do you have a build link please?

You can't, the 8 was probably a typo. A Cobra Mk3 running below minimum mass would require a 72.4% multiplier roll to reach 800m/s boost.

I'm wondering why these players are trying to prevent the CG from being completed, considering what the rewards are!
Because for SOME of them (heavy emphasis on SOME) it's not about lore-friendly RP or even PvP for the sake of competition. Some just want to ruin people's day because they think it's funny. The more unfair they can make it, or the less their actions make logical sense, the funnier it is. If they can get video of it and post it on their Youtube and then post a link to it here on the forums it's hilarous. If they can bait people into an argument with words like "carebear" and "snowflake" even better. The fact that it makes no sense to stop the CG progress because we ALL benefit from it succeeding just adds to their enjoyment.

Nice info! Do you know of a roll chart, where I could check the percentages for good, and sub-par?
Don't know a chart but if you get your optimal multiplier on dd5s anything above 35 % is excellent. That's generally seen as the entry level drive requirements for pvp. You CAN get higher but then it's a lot rarer and requires quite a bit of luck.

Pretty sure this is pretty normal for CG's in Open in general.
They're gathering places for those who wish to force PVP on others, as they are places where others gather - much like parks and playgrounds are gathering places for those sought by those who warrant surprise visits by Chris Hanson.

Nothing says "Welcome to Open" quite like a barrage of fire from a ship designed to destroy unarmed freighters in less than one shot.

Were they ever anything else? For me the words open and community goals, go together like deep heat and one's nether regions, they just should never go together. Unless of course you're into sadomasochism.

Cant remember last time I did a CG let alone one in open. When I do it's always in PG or solo just less stress that way.

I'd wager I could work "deep heat" and "one's nether regions" into a pretty effective combination, but not here. Maybe in the 50 Shades of Grey forums, but definitely not here.

Git Gud Guide T7 - Google it. I'd link, but naughty words make weak people cry.

Sacrifice some cargo for a proper shield - remember, there's nothing worse for your cr/hr than the rebuy screen.

Z...

Mate, read the topic. There were guys in heavy tanked Anacondas and Cutters who died or barely survived. My T7 had a tank 2.5x stronger than in the git gud guide and it almost instappoded. It's not like in prior CG's where they interdicted you in supercruise and you had to high wake. This time they are just camping the CG's stations, like sitting in groups at the slot in the no-fire zone and unleashing in your face, while also blocking you from entering/bumping. They just live in those stations, docking etc, and the station doesn't care ;]

I know in prior CG's there were a lot of smart pirate techniques to kill you at the station (mines, sniping from above no fire zone range, getting in a sidewinder and hoping you ram it while speeding etc.) but this time they seem not to need any effort. They are just sitting there waiting, and complaining on local how easy it is, lol :D

Elite Dangerous was supposed to be about small fish running errands for the superpowers, but right now half a dozen of players can rule the galaxy, disrupting operations that are crucial for humanity and they are just ignored. It's just stupid and immersion breaking.

I mean, even when there would be a heavy npc military presence they would find a way to kill you. But at least it would require some effort be a little bit risky for them and MAKE SENSE. I'm not complaining about the players, hell a lot of the victims maybe future player killers to, given the opportunity, but the system is just stupid.

And the worst thing is they are not treated as the bad infamous death squad that is the enemy of the state. Next day they will come back to being the perfect citizens loved by the superpowers and engineers.

Back to the game after a long layoff and thought I would try the CG at Maia. Was getting a bit bored in Mobius so decided to ship my cheap Cobra over and see what all the fuss was about in open. Not making that mistake again! Not a rant, as I was well aware of the risks of open but not sure why anyone would want to run the gauntlet of engineered PVP builds who sit there taking out unarmed Cobras!

Lesson learned and thanks to Mobius for providing a safe haven!

Yesterday all I did was click on Open from the Main Menu and my ship blew up. In seconds.

They've always been like this, all the way back to Yembo. Some more interesting than others.

No.

The thing that is missing is meaningfull way of playing together.
Why can't a player hire other PVP'ers to defend him?
PVP'er defending the player would play the way he likes and earn cut of profits/cargo/mods/whatever
PVP'er that was trying to 'ruin' the game for the player would be happy as he would have some challenge.
Player would be happy as he would be relatively safer when defended by other people.

Why can't we have system like instad everyone wants some godlike karma system that is never going to work?

This assumes that these gankers are actually looking for a decent pvp challenge instead of a cheap kill. I kinda doubt that.

Most are. The thing is a lot of them get bored when there's no one around to fight... and then there're the trolls with little actual pvp experience who hunt down newbs in starter systems or drop mines in stations or suicidewinder gimmick etc. They're the minority within the minority. By now anyone in Open at a CG should be seeking the thrill of it. A successful blockade run is awesome. Sometimes I'll do these in my T7 to test how well I can fight off interdictions and after a bit of practice I almost always come out making more than I lose. I'll never make top ten (frankly I think it's almost an exploit that people can do CGs in solo/group but that's another discussion and frankly the p2p is broken enough as it is so couldn't handle more people in the same system in Open all at once. It can't even handle the load now) but I have an exciting and risky time when I'm there. Other times I play the pirate which is pretty fun and sometimes I go just for the pvp and trust me most of those "griefers" aren't griefers at all. They want a good, white knuckle fight. Problem is FD makes it so damned hard for that to happen.

This doesn't really match the pvp experience that I've had so far. If someone in a purpose-built pvp kill ship attacks a "normal" (i.e. not pvp-optimised) ship, he doesn't look for a fair fight. Most these fights are over in seconds... where is the challenge in that?
Don't get me wrong: I have nothing against pvp (though I really suck at it) but the way things are implemented right now, it's no wonder that many people are driven to mobius or solo. There is just no way to survive as a trader, courier or whatever anywhere near the CGs at the moment, and the risk for the attackers is negligible while an anaconda driver easily faces a 10 mill rebuy.
Of course I'm thrilled when I'm able to evade an interdiction by another player, and I'd welcome some "real" pirates (or "real" bountyhunters chasing them) who actually demand cargo. But too often what happens is that you get interdicted, lose shields or engines in seconds (and I'm talking about pve-combat capable ships here that you could take to a RES or CZ) and then you just get blown apart. That's no pvp, that's just bullying people.

I think you misunderstand me. I get chased all over the place, see and experience these things all the time, and do occasionally die, but dont seem to experience the end times these threads that seem like terrible passive mobius adverts make open out to be.

That's because everyone is different.

I like to compare PvP to spicy food. Some people can't tolerate spiciness at all. Some people like it hot, the hotter the better. Some people prefer having just a bit of a kick, and will season their meal to taste Some will try the hot stuff from time to time, then once again swear "never again." And some jerks think it's funny to loosen the cap on the shaker, so that the next person to use it will have their meal ruined. The trick to open world PvP is to ensure is to ensure that there is wide selection on the menu, and to make sure the jerks aren't in control of the kitchen.

"...you must spread some Reputation around before..." Zod dammit! Virtual +1

How funny that people are so resistant to my suggestion of a relatively simple way to fix this, given the overriding sentiment.
