Some people have WAY too much free time and use it badly.
Am I supposed to be impressed? Annoyed? What am I supposed to feel? 'Cause right now all I get is....not much.
If this ever happens to me while on a rescue, screenies get the fast lane to reddit and I let the internet deal with it. Certainly not losing much if my rat ship gets destroyed, 800k rebuy takes all of one decent mission to get back again. Just another e-peen waggling session here, move along people.

Haha, I'm honestly considering it... although my character would need an in game reason. Maybe 2.4 gives some options other than shoot the alien that'd give me a cause but we'll see. In game, at least for now, I'm still on the positive interactions side but in the future who knows.
I am considering leaving the forums for a time though, already limited reddit to lurking only after an incident last week. Had to go to bed after that last post yesterday in order to be up for work, before sleeping I did have a talk on whether I still enjoy interacting here. Conclusion I came to after a while was to take a step back during the inevitable faecal storm of posts directly around 2.4 release this week and decide after, certainly a low point at the moment even if jaded is my default state.

This makes me immensely sad, and says so much about why this community is so toxic. In NO stretch of the imagination is this legitimate PvP gameplay. This is griefing - sole purpose to make someone angry. How this is allowed in the game is beyond me - this should fall under harassment pure and simple. There are some cases where the line between legit play and griefing can be argued, but IN NO POSSIBLE WAY can this be argued to be anything but griefing. It's beyond stupid that this is still allowed in the game 3 years after release, but the fact that they can then post video proof of it on the forums, where you know full well it's only purpose to to start an argument, is just asinine.

Hey 2.4 is out tomrrow so we can all moan about that rather than feeding the trolls, or slapping each other on the back for yet another outstanding job of how to show the world what a male memember some of the people around here are. I dont get it how do people get off on knowing other people thinking they are complete and utter trash is beyond me.
Well thats the five minutes of time I needed to kill before doing somthing a hell of lot more constructive with it.

Well at least we're admitting what this REALLY is. It's not PvP, it's bait to start arguments. And as we see, totally allowed to happen on the forums, as well as in the game. Disgusting.

I believe this type of emergent content was one of Braben's original dreams for Elite.
This event is very rare! To travel so far, with such purpose. I cannot think of many more who have done this. Rare [ X ]

And, everyone who is against what happened here, just remember, that was many hours of flight by a SDC member to pull this off. That means many hours they were not doing something else within the bubble! One CMDR's pain is to your benefit!
I think what's more horrifying is folks sit through the 356775433567 loading screens to get to Beatle Point.
