VR gameing chair

I'm quite happy with no movement. My chair is quite basic, but it's comfort definitely suits flying a Cutter. :)

The string is hopefully only a temporary measure (though it works very well), as I'm waiting for some bits to arrive. But when the headset is on, how it looks doesn't matter anyway.

Wow, that would be fantastic. It would never fit in my office though. And truthfully, it's actually kinda nice to have a static, non-moving chair. :)

I just got a arozzi Verona chair and built a hotas stand out of 2" pvc pipe. Clamped the buttkicker to the chair and I'm off and running. That's enough immersion for me!

G'day all,
In the pursuit for more immersion; I want something I can bolt my chair too, a base that moves back forward left and right.
A fairly simple design that an amateur could build and it would fit unobtrusively into my den.
Care to share your thoughts, design, or links.
kindest regards Gaffa.

I would start here: http://www.x-sim.de/forum/portal.php

But there isn't much support in ED for motion sims, so wouldn't make much effort.

I can't see facebook from here, so I can't tell if this ia DIY or a an ad, or whatever, but I can say that I will soon be building the PVC pipe DIY chair that has been going around for a couple of years now. I'm not short of money, so this isn't a compromise decisin, I think it's DIY nature is perfect for Elite cos you might want to make various adaptations to any off the shelf product, which you can do during the build phase and test-in-place. There is not a single negative review assuming it's built right. Until you build it you might think it won't be sturdy. I've sat in one (built by a friend of a friend) and it was more solid than any gaming chair I've ever sat in.

If you're in the UK, or can find an outlet in the US, the GT Omega chairs (three trims) which are sold on ebay are also very good for Elite, because they support not only steering wheels and control panels in front of you, but also have ready-to-fit joystick tables that go on the arms (I think bought separately). They are also VERY reasonably priced for what they are.

Here's a link to one of the PVC chair builds, there are various versions of this across the net with minor variations, but all roughly the same thing...

For GT Omega, you only have to ebay or google. :)

If you can afford it I would go with aluminium extrusion - its way more modular and makes retrofitting "stuff" to it easier - here's a couple of pics of mine in a recent state (its an ever evolving project):

It even has a drinks chiller installed now :)

Whilst I appreciate building your own CNC router is a bit over the top, a 3D printer can be had for £2-300 and that will pay you back big time. You can see my step by step progress on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/imadethisoncnc

I considered T extrusion myself.
so happens that although we here in Norway has virtually anything.
A few products has slipped and is a giant NO.

So closes I could find would be to import it myself from the UK, and then enough of it would most likely make the setup as expensive as the rift itself after shipping and import taxes.

Your welcome Frank_G,
i too have been searching for an affordable high end chair, the beuity of this item is that it's expandable with addons, ie you can put the skid item on at a later date. They also answered my email to them within 24 hours. Keep me posted as to your progress. Cheers.

I have the Pagnain / Next Level Racing Motion Platform V2 that is very compact and fits below the racing chair from my Obutto Ozone cockpit system. It's a fairly simple 2 DOF setup but it really adds a ton to racing titles and is a blast with Elite. Since Elite doesn't support external telemetry it can only track your joystick so while the physics aren't 100% correct it still adds a ton of immersion. You pull back and the seat leans back. You get it with a missile and you feel it in the ButtKicker. Someone hits me in a race and my seat rocks of hard, almost painfully.

Full details are in the guide linked in my signature. While systems like the one linked are rather amazing IMHO they are unnecessarily intense. It doesn't take much to trick the mind when you're already in VR. My seat can only move about 10 degrees but that's enough that when friends ride a roller coaster in No Limits with VR/Motion no one has been able to keep their hands over their heads, everyone grabs to hold on. So the huge expense and space needed don't remotely make sense for something like Elite.
