I know, ironic isn't it
Do you understand you just took part in feeding the trolls?![]()
Just discuss whatever you feel like discussing without going: what would SDC think of this? If they are happy with replies, good for them! Who cares?I know, ironic isn't itThey do seem to like irony though

It might be griefing, but as its a one off act, then its not really harassment.
And while i certainly don't approve of what happened, i do applaud the effort that went into it. Having gone to BP myself, i know just how much effort it requires.
Is it legitimate gameplay? I think i have to say yes. There were no exploits, it happened in open, a trick was played, and it worked.
So, we have a situation, which is not exactly against the rules, could even be a case of "all is fair in love and war", but regardless, still was a definite case of someone doing something to deliberately try and cause someone grief.
As always, if you don't like this sort of thing, you can always play in other modes. If you do play in other modes, then you can happily ignore this sort of thing.
It is clear there is still a large part of the community who seem to accept the risk this sort of thing can happen by the very fact they play in open, even if they disapprove of it.
SDC do this sort of thing for the notoriety. They openly admit it. If people didn't give them the attention they want, they would get frustrated. Instead people get riled up.
You see, they love the attention they get from doing this sort of thing.
Advice:
Stop playing in Open or be wary of tricks like this.
If you see a thread like this, don't dive in head first. Think about what the OP wants. Don't give the OP what they want.
If people didn't get all excited over threads like these, there would be an initial post, a few people saying "Yeah, wow, you guys are great" and then the thread would die.
Instead, all people are doing here is giving SDC more visibility and feeding their salt generator.
Ok I might be showing my age or ignorance here or indeed both, but just what is a forum dad and how does one qualify?
Do you have to be over a certain age, or do you need children as lets face it you can be a dad at any age once your into puberty. For the record I think I can pass for Grandad age albeit a young one) if I or indeed my now wife had any children of our own to then have children of their own.
Never understood this term is it meant as an insult as I thought being a dad of anything was something to be proud off.
For me, that is not drivel. That is proper and worthy PvP. Beating someone on a level playing field can give a true sense of victory. Beating someone with the advantage of a stronger ship/loadout/whaever simply takes away from that victory. If i PvP, i want to know it was my skill responsible for whether i win or lose.
It's an overused term. It used to mean: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Forumdad

They're irrelevant in that regard.
Who knows? Maybe they will give us rep [hehe]
Forumdaddy alright with you daddy-o?LOL, love how they use ED as part of the definition, so i guess the phrase was coined by an ED player.
Well, i almost qualify being a dad, but i definitely play more than 2 hours per week and don't complain about how hard the game is. Not sure i'm happy about that.... i think i quite like the term forumdad. Sounds respectable. Someone mature, capable of dispensing wisdom about gameplay to younger and less experienced players.
ALL! You may now all refer to me as SIR FORUMDAD!
The community will never change in this regard.
The failure that is Arena/CQC proves it is not what players of this game want both PVE or PVP.
By your assessment on what makes PVP, you are also ruling out in game piracy and bounty hunting if both sides are not running identical builds.
If Powerplay hadn't been an abject waste of time, based around a really promising feature. You would also be classing players defending their faction against players running stronger or weaker ships as non PVP.
Non Consensual PVP is very much a thing, its the players who haven't quite mastered it and get dunked on who class it as griefing.
Players who shouldn't be in Open mode, if they have firstly that mind set or that delicate a disposition.
Forumdaddy alright with you daddy-o?
Sir Forumdaddy it is then o7I'm sorry, i insist in on the Sir part.
Apologies.I'm sorry, i insist in on the Sir part.
