PvP How to avoid murder hobbos - Part 1

Wow, that's an excellent way to get yourself killed by ramming suicide ganker inside the station! Especially if you are in a big ship.

I was going to say this!

Step 3: die to suicidewinder who rams you for lulz. Speeding over 100? 6,000 CR bounty. Killed by station defenses.

I would say that if you play with a trader Cutter you should have spent enough money and resources so your shields are strong enough to get you safely through the slot. If you didn´t or they can´t keep you alive long enough, that´s your bad outfitting.

Everyone appreciates that you don´t like to face this sort of gameplay, so Mobius or other PG are available for you. But many players enjoy the increased adrenaline of being attacked in open by other players.

I don´t call being attacked by a murdering hobbo "Harassment". I call it "Good, I was bored already!".

Pretty sure you don't speak for everyone, and thanks for thinking you can relegate me to a private game. I've shot plenty of the hobos and watched them CL to safety. They often don't play along.

If the hobo thought you enjoyed it he'd look for another target. That's why you see so many ships named "salt miner" or something along those lines. These folks aren't sharing the ball with you. They are hitting you in the face with it.

Bit harder to do in a bigger ship. but drop the landing gear and two pips to engines just before you enter the slot to help quickly bleed off the speed off. Clean and in a security system? No problem. Just stay calm and focused on the slot. More than once I've had the attacker follow me in too far and get killed or routed by the station :)

You know I'm pretty sure Rinzler did a video about how to survive a gank/pvp with his Trading in Open guide. In a nutshell it's:

1. Pick system to high wake to when you jump in, leave it highlighted.
2. Submit to interdiction
3. Have shields worth a darn on your trader ship (or any ship actually in this case).
4. Boost at your attacker while charging high wake jump
5. When docking at station never ever ever go above 100 to avoid suicidewinders/suicideeagles getting you killed by the station.
6. GG.

It is a bit more challenging at an anarchy CG. Gotta forgo #5 and hope the suicdewinders got killed by whoever is waiting out front of the station.

EDIT: Actually, suicdewinders probably arent a thing in anarchy. The station doesnt care if I shoot someone to death, doubt it cares if I ram someone to death.

I'm very sorry to say so, but I have to maintain my previous statement.

You are asking that other players change their gameplay because you don't like it... Sorry mate, but that is, at best, very unlikely to happen. Just yesterday I was ganked and my cobra destroy by two god-engineer-roll FGS. When I respawned asked them for a duel, we did it (and well, I did die, still had my smuggler cobra). I befriended the guy I dueled with and we agreed to meet another day with equal ships to test our skills.

If you find a murdering hobbo that doesn't play along... Hell, there are THOUSANDS of players to play with! "Oh, man, what an [insert favourite insult here]" and move along. And if all this still doesn't fit you... then very sorry but go play with the Mobius guys for instance. Me? I will keep enjoying the added challenges of open PVP.

I would just like to remind all Cmdrs that suggest using Mobius, that the main European group is full and not accepting any new members, leaving you a small chance of joining the american Mobius, and that i believe is filling up fast. Fair enough if you are on the wrong side of the pond, but Soooooo lonely if you are in europe, unless you change your work and sleep patterns.

There are smaller Mobius groups popping up but i assume membership of these is pretty small.

One potential problem ; going in at full speed you're vulnerable to someone suicide ramming you in a Sidewinder to make the station kill you. May not be easy to hit you in a Vulture, but my Conda is a much bigger target.

That generally happens only in CG stations.

Fromn Drew Wagar's personal website "the Elite Dangerous community, what you did and didn’t do. I set out to write your story.... for griefers and carebears – this is the universe of Elite Dangerous ""Griefers" right there, acknowledged as a part of the community. The juxtaposition with "carebears", though seems to suggest thatthis is intended to reads something like "PvP enthusiasts and the PvP-shy" but instead alludes to being a "griefer" as being an alternative/opposite to being a "carebear".Personally I think such a lack of care in ŕeference is damaging on many fronts. It damages the reputation and enforces stereotype prejudice of PvP enthusiasts into being considered along the lines of "murder hobos" or worse, as "griefers" by the playerbase as whole, and secondly, as damaging to the game/FDev and attempts to tackle REAL PROBLEMS of 'griefing' where grefing is as covered in the guidelines, a violation of the rules.

Step One: play in Mobius Group.

There are no more steps, all done!

Now Mengy... Where's the fun in that? So little risk in ED right now, this is all we've got, and you'd dodge it?

OK OK, I'm taking the proverbial, but there is truth there. Until exploration gets proper hazards, the AI get back the bet 4 skills from back in 2.0, along with engineered weapons, the only true thing even close to being a threat is flying in open.

Avoiding a good ganking is kinda fun - remember, salt from the tears of a griefer that couldn't grief you is the tastiest salt!

To some, there is no "Open adrenaline". You seem to enjoy it, and that's cool. Others, myself included, don't feel like dealing with other players who want me to be their 'game content'.

And telling others to "learn some basic game skills" so they can play 'your' definition of the game is actually quite arrogant on your part. LOL...

I for one have the so-called skills to evade/run in Open. I choose not to as it is boring, tiresome nonsense I choose not to deal with. Open, and certain participants thereof, are simply not relevant to how I want to enjoy this game. Simple as that.

Mobius PvE suits me just fine, thanks. :)

Right...

So, before we descend into yet another variation of Hotel California...

Remember, this thread was about how to survive a murder hobo. There was no mention of solo, PG, or making anyone play in a way that they didn't want to. It be non-open players that fired the first shot. The solo/PG crowd have their reasons for not wanting to play in open. Good, I'm glad the game can be enjoyed by those that are not in to PvP, and I don't care how you play your game, so long as you have fun and enjoy.

But when you come into a thread that is about surviving a ganking (which, for the record, only happens in Open, apart from that short period where NPC's had multi-cannon plasma accelerators), well, I think you need to gett he chip off your shoulder and just stay out of the thread, unless there is something constructive to say?

Asking the OP to prove it can be done in a cutter, T-9/whatever is a fair challenge, telling us to go into a private/solo game is out of line.

Seriously, just play the game you enjoy - let's make peace with the fact that I'll never get you into open, and you're not going to get me to play solo. Let's just be happy we can both enjoy playing in our own way, because enjoying your game is what counts.

To the tune of the spam song

Block block block block,
Block block block block,
BLOCK BLOOOCK BLOCKITY BLOOOCK,
BLOCK BLOOOCK BLOCKITY BLOOOCK.

Apparently the new PvP sub forum which was designed precisely for the purpose of discussing player versus player interaction isn't even safe from from Pver trolling.

What did you expect? PvPers also invaded the Mobius PvE announcement so...

I don't really care as I don't mind forum PvP, but I do think it's ironic given the fact that the forum was partitioned precisely for the purpose of cutting down on the bickering in an effort to keep things constructive.

Well, the block button is a very real alternative to avoid griefers so it's not troll post.

The only legitimate use of the block feature is when someone is being verbally abusive on chat and in rare cases of "griefing." So rare in fact that I've never even come across a documented case. Blocking just to avoid PvP, which is what Bob advocates and you seem to be supporting, is just exploiting a stupid, poorly thought out mechanic, and acting like it's a "real alternative" to avoid murder hobo's is nothing more than a not so subtle attempt at trolling.
