I dropped into a non human threat 5, watched the ship scan a load of blown up clippers etc. Had hardpoints deployed and a fighter launched and to a degree it pretty much left me alone. Flew a few rings around it, scanned it and got unknown information (or words to that effect). It did not like being shot at. My moderate, jack of all trades Anaconda did alright for a period, but it did take the shields out when it had finished arguing with the Taipan, so I ran away.

Just had another encounter with a Thargoid in a Non Human Threat 5 signal. It scanned me, deployed drones and then went to scan stuff. I jettisoned a damaged escape pod and 2 Meta Alloys and it scooped them up and left.

I have been jumping in and out of USS and the Thargoids are only picking up escape pods.
I think they are taking research material.

Just had another encounter. Jettisoned 4 meta alloys, the thargoid scooped them, went back to the wreckage to scan stuff, then another Thargoid dropped in, did a massive pulse blast thing disabling my ship and they both left. Uploading videos now.

Major spoiler following (real one). Could be nothing but thanks to the glitch I have some screenshots from 2.3.
Those two "object" inside. They match to the shape of the top of alien structures. This is how they will look when they will be opened.

Ok, maybe it's just with the TS, TP and TL then. I only tested those. Someone else tested some Thargoid biomatter.

The central bit of the mark seems to me to be common and is the barney mark. Perhaps the rest of the markings are nest identifier, hierarchical rank, or something similar. Don't think they could be individual identifier (name) as there would be insufficient variation across the whole species and individual marking would not fit with a hive lifeform

This makes me think that it could just be our ship's computer tripping out with unknown data, and not a message from the aliens.
