Thargoids are invincible god ships for now?

Not sure what I expected, but that does nothing for my enjoyment of the game.

Total lack in creativity there. Yup.

Yes, they are invincible, but it should come as no surprise.

Didn't frontier say human weapons weren't going to be very effective, and new weapons have to be developed?

Also, read Galnet, its useful.

2.4, as has been told countless times is an ongoing storyline. Not everything will be revealed on day one, including the new weaponary.

Invincible ships? Read Galnet?

Really?

That's... pathetic, really. Wow. This update seems terrible.

Right because "not very effective" = invincible.... right. And "storyline" = ZERO gameplay... ok then. Thanks for explaining.

Zero game play - you know its possible to interact with the Thargoids, other than trying to shoot them?

Pathetic, to you maybe, personally, I'm quite enjoying the unfolding Thargoid story line!

And whats wrong with reading Galnet to keep up with the Elite universe? Had you done so, you would have understood what is happening and why... If you choose to ignore the storyline, thats fine, but don't b*ch and whine when storyline content is produced, i.e., in the form of 2.4 - which widely known and publicised would be based on the Thargoid storyline AND would be released in stages as the storyline unfolds.

Yes, really. As has been said many, many times, this is different than previous updates and will be more episodic. Weapons are currently being developed to engage the Thargoids. What fun would it be if we could gank them straight away?

The only thing pathetic and terrible I've seen today is the predictable buffoonery, whining on about how bad it is...without even 24 hours gone by.

Hopefully XB1 will have update downloaded in the morning and I'll give it a go.

That didn't take long.

"DEAR FRONTIER WHY AM I NOT AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN I SHALL WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR."

What did people expect? More of the same AI? How does a trivial foe that is expunged, day one, give us any reason to do anything, at all? Why even bother? Frontier are showing are illustrating that we are, ostensibly, currently on the back foot. It's day one. They didn't put an extremely potent foe 300 LY out of the bubble for kicks.

Be reasonable.

I cant believe people complain about this when they know the actual gear to harm them comes in a few days, and was shown in the trailer. Yes, if blowing stuff up is your thing you will have to wait two days. This was known before 2.4 went live.

Haha, every update has this effect on you. :)

I've read and I've been playing since beta. Great that your standards are so low, but mine aren't. I expected better implementation and found this first iteration highly disappointing.

I'm not seeing any serious committed attempts to gang up and see if human DPS is capable of overcoming the regeneration rate.

Sure we can't take them one on one currently, but if it bleeds we can kill it.

Anyone got any links to videos of multiple commanders hitting the same Thargoid at the same time?

I'll ask at the GCI Discord. So far the most I've seen is two commanders.
Again to the white knights shining their epeens bright, there's a difference between criticising the implementation of something and wanting to be top dog.
Edit:

Apparently four vettes and a cutter. I'm waiting for the upload and will post again.

I don't think my standards are low at all.. but what did you expect? tell us. you keep on whining and crying but actually haven't said what you expected - you two are just full of whine.. your not saying anything much else apart of "wahhhh wahhh waaaah"! Its not constructive at all.

I based my opinions on videos of 2.4 and Frontier revelations regarding Thargoids and 2.4, which was: human technology is pretty much useless against a Thargoid ship. We are pretty much defenseless, until the weaponary, as exposed in Galnet, the 2.4 trailers and GCs become available. Even then, it won't be easy to destroy them.

I consider my opinion of 2.4 to be pretty much accurate of what was released - and that is not low expectations at all!

2.4 is an unfolding story line. today is just the beginning of the 2.4 narrative.

So - in words, what did you both expect?

I expected better. Invincibility is lazy. If anything they could make effective invincibility with the regen increasing as their hull shrinks or an increased and overwhelming hostile response, and that's just for the combat elements.
Seems "research limpets" are the only other way to interact. It's binary and lazy. The visuals are great as usual but the level of interaction is anemic.

Try harvesting Thargoids rather than shooting them - different mechanic, but very entertaining. I wonder what mining laser will do to them.

Why spend time on 'effective invincibility' if the end result is the same and you know it'll change after the cg? Sounds like a waste of effort that adds zero additional gameplay. And no, you can also interact by snatching escape pods from them, or bringing them artifacts. And that is just what we figured out in a few hours. Anything happening at the barnacles/bases? Are there new stations to be found?

Unless, of course, you happen to be faster than the thargoid NPC, and happen to have long range weaponry. You still can't kill them, but they come at you in a straight line, never firing until they are within about 2.8km. If you stay within ~7km, they will keep doing the same thing until you run out of ammo.

It's very much beneath what I expected.

YMMV, I guess.

I'm wondering about that, cant see that remaining when the new modules go live.

Because it's dead lazy. Once again, low standards where it comes to showing some of the first mechanics of ship to ship contact. It sets the pace for everything that's to come.

Invincibility is revealing humans are way inferior to Thargoids! "Research limpets" is NOT the only non-hostile way to interact with them, but, you wouldn't know that would you because your too busy complaining on these forums, not 12 hours after the deployment was complete!!

I feel this thread will provide sufficient lulz so im going to subscribe to a thread for the first time ever.

Carry on people.

I find these two are incredibly entertaining. It was all too predictable.... But I'm probably going to unsubscribe, they are like talking to "flat earthers", or "young earth believers".
