News Inflated Mission Rewards - Fix on the way and important information

Mission Reward Balance

Was this bug experienced in solo play? I did not see anything out of the usual with passenger missions there.

For those who are willfully ignoring the obvious:

After 2.4 dropped, some missions (extremely rare) were apparently paying out ludicrous amounts of credits. As with the Quince gold mine, humans will be humans, and some willfully sought out said missions, to cash in on them. It's obvious that these missions would be patched out, and the commanders who complain are more than likely the selfsame opportunists who have cashed on at least one of them (note, I say more than likely here, not certain, so there is no malice here..).

Ultimately Elite is about the journey. Having missions paying even 20 million credits would greatly reduce the time it would take any given commander to obtain an A-rated top tier ship. When that happens, said commander hasn't really got much impotus to carry on playing.

This means less potential micro transactions, which ultimately means a loss of income for FDev.

Hence the patch.

In addition, we have seen there’s an increased payout with missions in general, we’re still investigating this. We don’t want to discourage people from playing the game and taking part in missions, but we would like to remind you to be mindful and considerate when undertaking this activity. We will be reviewing mission reward gains after the fix has gone live, in order to re-balance any significant unfair advantages gained by Commanders who may have deliberately gamed the system.

As far as I can tell, being relatively new, Low relationship missions (normal) took a huge hit in payout, cordial looks a little lower, friendly looks about the same as pre 2.4.
Saw some LONG range missions and they payouts just were not worth it. Was able to take about 8 missions to high LS bases in an adjacent system and make a couple mill, so where that works out it can be worthwhile.

Cheers - have just got allied with a few stations, and figured the rewards just got better - When I saw this post I hoped I was not "Taking advantage" of a system error

Exactly.

Sorry, but I'm guessing that most people do things in this game...basically...by money. So if we see a mission that's even 10mil more than what we're used to seeing (esp. when aliens are attacking and the whole game is changing, literally and figuratively), of COURSE we're going to take it!!!!

=)

This is not a pay to win game. Don't see how earning 1000 credits or 10000 credits or 100000 credits affects buying skins for ships or not.

Personally, I saw and took passenger missions that paid 15mil for about 20-30m supercruise, and required allied state (which unless you do the exploration data exploit, takes time to reach).

I actually thought some missions were paying less than before. I also notice for passengers, I hardly get any transport X number of people, its usually transport (insert name). Is that normal?

All I know is right now missions are all over the place. There are decent payout missions (1 to 3 mil) but they require 200+ ly trips.

Short range missions are back to barely paying the fuel again.

Disclaimer : I’m 30% Tycoon.

Edit : Still need to check passenger missions, but it looks like FD still don’t want us to play missions.

Edit 2 : There are still a few decent missions actually, but they are drowned by “deliver 16t to 240ly for 15k cr”.

smh

I Hope that Messenger missions rewards are low because story plot. Now are about 3k credits

As a general rule it seems Frontiers rule for mission payout scaling is that unless it's combat related, it gives (relatively) bad payout.

As soon as it involves shooting something, even a singular near stationary unshielded target 6LY away, then you can get a couple of hundred thousand credits a pop for minimum time engagement.

Passenger missions seem to be locked to sightseeing. Even more than before I mean. May be tied to my Elite Explorer rank.

Kill order missions are fine. Illegal ones are multi-million payouts. Legal ones are 500k-1mil

All I want is for the difficulty/danger of a mission to reflect the payout.

Agreed , I am not going to take a mission for a Gazzilion credits whatever the distance , it's obviously a glitch , but i was doing rather well from the odd 20 million short hop long long run in to station trips (>30,000ls) that appeared after 2.4 dropped. Shame though , the risk could have been higher than the occasional interdiction by a harmless NPC eagle. Now , nothing but cabin-hogging missions that aren't really worth the bother . Get your act together FD , i know it's a major update and all that , but appreciate how frustrating this is for those of us who wan't to do something other than waste ammunition on shooting alien space flowers that we cant kill yet, or engage in CG's where you have finally applied real world economics to the supply of goods (accidentaly?) and no one can supply the stations asking for supplies without travelling to the other side of the bubble.

My perception (and it could be just that, but I don't think so) is that mission rewards are generally reduced. Two separate passengers are each offering 500k (yes k) for me to take them to colonia. General one jump, short distance to station misson, seem to be at around the same level up to around 1M. I guess as developers you would want to remove incentive from the game as quickly as possible :/
It may be very difficult to get this right, I do not know, but FD designed the darn system. Sometimes it feels like they do not know what they are trying to do, or how to achieve it.

I noticed that missions rewards in my home system have dramatically reduced (LTT 4961). E.g. 22,100 ly data delivery mission paying just 160,000Cr, and local data delivery at around 8,000Cr (reduced from about 80,000).

Greetings Commanders,
...

I don't know why, but I read this as "sorry commanders, we noticed that the game experience inadvertently improved; don't worry, we're working to keep the grinding level at its usual (high) level"

It sounds so British in any case.

(j/k, don't take me too seriously)
