Am thinking of building a Goid hunter\killer but Anaconda's are just silly money

I also feel my Python is lacking in HP's and utility slots so, even though I dislike them (mostly due to the sort of person you usually see flying them in open), I was thinking of an FDL, any thoughts on this?

I don't have, nor ever intend to have any Fed rank, so all of the FAS, FGS etc are out of the question.

I don't yet have the Imperial Navy rank or money for a Cutter and the FDL just seems the obvious answer, plenty of HP's and slots etc.

It's only major downfall is it's jump range, flying one from Cubeo to Maia would be a huge chore, esp in full battle load out, but that's what ship transfers are for!

Am thinking something along the lines of this - https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/fer...GRgYAB3xM0kZAAAA.EweloBhAOEoUwIYHMA28QgIwV0A=

The Goid scanner and missiles are not on Coriolis yet so I have just put a manifest scanner and packhounds in their place.

This would be for engaging them in a wing, not solo btw.

You're gonna want 4 AX launchers ....

I did think that but I thought you only needed 4 if trying solo? I could easily swap 2 of the beams for AX's thats not a worry.

But in general do you think this is an ok build, I've got no experience at all with the FDL, obv there will be all the engineering I have access to done (so G5 FSD, PD & MC's, G3 DD's, shields etc).

I think it's a little low on armor, but it could work.
Maybe take an ECM instead of a heat sink. They can distract the swarm.

Use a 2A fuel scoop and put a 4d module reinforcement package on the thing. Still get a respectable scoop rate for what the fuel tank holds and you get more durability. And the BDS can be replaced with literally anything (DC if you want to be lazy, weighs nothing and can be set to lowest power priority). Huge MC probably won't be doing much, and the tracking on kinetic weaps below the waterline is bad. Put a 4A gimballed pulse laser in there, either long range or effecient engineering. For the missiles, I think high capacity would be the way to go, and use 4 of them on the class 2 hardpoints. If jump range is a concern for you, maybe try ship transfer once you get out there in a ship that jumps better. Also, engineer your armor for heavy duty, gives you longer engagement time.

Like this maybe?

I've also forgone any module reinforcements for more hull ones as I don't think (from what I have seen) they target modules anyway.

Modules get damaged even without being targetted, Module reinforcement might be a good idea.

Something like this maybe - https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/fer...MwKYBNECcCGAbA+hgzvhgK5YAuO+AFgJYAOIIAjBK0A== ?

I've replaced the medium beams with more missiles (which are Packhounds as the AX ones are not on Coriolis yet) and swapped the MC for a fixed beam as well.

Anaconda is actually a bargain, its the fitting of it thats silly money :D.

If your going in a wing - Python's fine - I can take 1 heart out solo in my Python in relative safety - I have three AX dumbfires, beam laser and a multi (dont want to go less conventional wepaons than that) - can't help thinking two cobra's on my wing and we'd be rocking.
Haven't tried the Annie yet - not my most fav ship, even with engineering I feel she won't be nimble enough (especially as I'm making a living scooping pods and stuff out from under the goid's), but certainly has the ability to do it solo if handled right.

I feel like it's not something I want to do with my Python, maybe I'm too attached to it!

My idea would be my mate in his hull tanky Conda as the brute force and then myself and a couple of other people in smaller ships giving it the run around, 2 cmdrs in properly kitted out Cobra MKIII's would be good fun I would think! :D

More or less. If you are going for a beam, use efficient engineering. And the ADS won't be of much use, I don't know what to put there, Another HRP would be kinda useful, a DC would decrease your overall mass and costs while still using the slot. And I find it is nice to just let it dock on its own.

Not joking, a Cobra IV might be a good ship. Lots of options with that ship. I have an engineered one, and will take a look at mine. The rebuy cost is nice and low.

Due to the ranks and money he's talking about, I'd assume he wasn't around for that "gem" we call the Cobra Mark 4.... lol.

Yeah no MK IV for me, I do know people with them though.

Well last night I priced up my FDL, checked on my mats and data storage for engineers (just need a few easy to find bits like chromium etc) and thought I would do some passenger missions to get the money for the FDL (I like to earn the cash to buy and kit out a ship without dipping in to my Cutter savings!) and as everyone has already noticed the missions are knackered, made about 12m and gave up for the night as too grindy, might give it another go today, but could take a while as my FDL build is about 111m!
