thargoid and solo mode

Just interested (no agenda) on whether thargoid combat will remain an option for only non-solo mode – and those very skilful solo pilots. Tried solo against one but had to run pretty quickly. Fun, but incomplete since I had no chance of defeating the thing. (And of course if you leave to repair then the instance dies.).

Killing a thargoid is fairly doable. In solo you need to build a specific ship and it isn't like RES or CZ huntig. Fights last longer and hull tanks shine. With that in mind, there are multiple solo kills of thargoids now on youtube even in non-hulltanks.
Doing a thargoid solo is nothing impossible at all (sadly tbh) so just build a good AX ship and modify some hull packs.

Thx. Probably just down to my lack of skill then.
Hopefully they will introduce baby thargoids or older ones with weak hearts :)

It'll probably get easier later as more anti goid weaponry shows up. Prob even get Goid Shields that stop leakage. Im guessing at some point the cyclops variants will be fodder.

Effective shields would definitely help. Mine were largely still intact, but the hull was down to a few 10%. Given I could not damage its shields faster than they were repairing, it seemed a good time to make a 'tactical' if rather hasty retreat. To be fair, it was just a general purpose vette, with not much hull reinforcement, and I was in a lousy mood following all the jumpy-jumpy to get there, but still surprised by the speed of damage - and how maneuverable the big goid was. Could be fun with a better fighting package.

The main damage of the fight comes from the Thargon Swarm, not the Interceptor itself, you need to distract the swarm or hit and run.

There are specific mechanics that will help you through the several phases of the fight, check out the thread I linked.

Hull reinforcement is often more important than shield in taking down the interceptor, provided you can evade the yellow short range scramble laser.

Thanks for the info. Useful, although I will never have your skill unfortunately - impressive.
(The yellow short range scramble laser is probably the same as the yellow lightening storm that doused me twice or more, with devastating effect.).
