Without Provocation?

TL;DR: Satirical hippy post about peaceful coexistence with an alien species we can't even communicate with.

So, CMDRs are popping Thargoid ships all over the Pleiades, and we're still insisting these attacks by Thargoids are without provocation? If you were a Thargoid, wouldn't you shoot first and ask questions later? How can we--the dregs of the cesspool we call the human genome--claim any right to exist against the Thargoids' clear evolutionary advantage? Perhaps they are like locusts, staying dormant for a period of time only emerging a short while to continue their species? Imagine what that would be like. You and your fellow Thargoids go to sleep--or whatever it is you do between reproductive cycles--and wake up to find these aggressive alien bipeds burning your kids with lasers. The injustice!

The human species needs to re-evaluate its role in the cosmos. At every turn we've learned we are not the end of the story of life, or even the main characters. We shouldn't blow our best chance to learn from the only alien species we have ever encountered. We should evacuate the Pleiades and stay out of their way. Don't repeat the mistakes of our forbears! Remember Tau Ceti!

A stirring, if entirely generic argument. Trust me, CMDR, not all of humanity lives in the tar pit. From what I have seen, there are by far more CMDR's out there looking to explore, explain and communicate than there are willing to shoot first and ask questions later. Myself included. :)

Have faith.

I havent fired a single shot against any Thargoid or Thargoid structure yet. And yes, i have been playing the game :D and will continue behaving like a sentient being.
I am totally with you, to find a peaceful solution and been out exploring the Pleiades Nebula since the first signs of alien presence there, to collect as much data as possible to achieve this.

o7 CMDR

I haven't either, but I'm near the center of the galaxy. When I get back however, I intend to help record the boundaries of our encounters to establish a baseline and then monitor any advance or retreat into new areas.

I'm only into pew pewing a holes that have earned it.

Considering the Thargoids were hyperdicting us before we even knew they were there yes, without provocation.

Considering they attacked ships before we even had the weapons to attack them yes, without provocation.

Its not hard really, they showed up hostile lol.

Thargoid combat is strictly Opt in.If you don't want to engagte them in conflicts, you are in no way obliged to.Given that they represent significant farming potential, htough - there will be a lucrative avenue adopted by many. -THargoid is an in-game Faction - just how this distinction will be represented in gameplay terms 'in the ground' (in space?) is as yet to be further revealed or understood.

Bugs aren't a faction at all (yet). No standings (rep) system, no territory (aside from personal space), no relations, bad or good, with other factions or humanity .

Without Provocation? After events like this?

Maybe not "officially", but the mechanics are all there and there is a FACTION:Thargoids entry in the game memory & files.
