I've been pootling around the California Nebula a bit, though I haven't had time to do all that much exploration yet. Checked out a couple of barnies, they seem pretty normal. No NHSS sighted yet. If there are any California locations that might be considered to be of particular interest I'd be happy to pop over for a look.
The barnacles are growing? Maybe they're constructing a new mothership, does the shape roughly conform to the central structure of Thargoid ground sites?

Is it just glowing like that? Or did something make it start doing that? Are there noises?

Edit: Arrived at my old stomping ground California Sector DL-Y d4 and heading to C6 now. Not been hyperdicted but then I don't have anything onboard that they want (yet).
Only one Barnie here rather than the two before (the duplication bug way-back when, this is what the site looked like when I found it in May last year: https://imgur.com/9SPUe4k)
Have scanned it and it shows up as Thargoid Barnacle with an organic structure next to it. No data recorded or messages recieved. This one was plundered of meta-alloys along time back and there's nothing to collect.

I was hyperdicted 224 ly away from Maia, towards the bubble. I put the data into the hyperdiction sheet. Forgot to scan it with the xeno scanner (stupid me).
Before I only saw them bugs only within 100 ly from Maia.

Last night there was a glow at the bottom of the barnacle and lots of low grumbling sounds.
There is either an escalation of Thargoid activity, or the Anaconda is deemed more interesting for them than my Cobra MkIV.
I've got 3 hyperdictions, the firsr -as mentioned above- 200+ ly away from Maia as I was approaching the region.
One hyperdiction had two Thargoids that were simply holding position as others experienced. Their markings were as below - hope it is useful for the study.

I have updated the forms with the Lexigram identification charts. Hopefully we will start getting data soon!
I was in witchhead nebula and visited some systems... scanned some and visited some barnacle locations... nothing new there. No nhss...

"Black Flight"? google-fu gives me nothing...
So the low rumbling noises and "a" glow is fairly normal. What's not normal is the glow pictured in MasoneTi's pictures. It's lit up like a christmas tree!
You look top-down like in this picture and none are glowing like this:
The central barnacle does glow; the ground around it glows all the time, and sometimes the glow is like what you see in MasoneTi's photos. It waxes and wanes over time.
Also, this is the only barnacle making music - the rest only make the rumbling/grumbling/cracking noises.
