Get rid of ridiculous and repetitive npc text chats

"Because reasons, this cruise ship will be late."

It's just clutter.
Why would they use their radio instead of their intercom anyway? They should NOT fly a spaceship. I mean it was nice in the first few days, adding some life.
But hearing how happy everyone is on the wedding barge in the exact same wording, every few minutes just gets annoying and unbelievable.
It's not a big deal, but I'd rather see messages that concern me, like those sent by my friends.

I know you can turn off local chat, but that would block out too much.

I'm in agreement with this. I don't know who in the Fdev team was responsible for all the canned NPC text, but they really need to let someone develop a MUCH bigger database of NPC chatter that sounds MUCH less robotic and makes a lot more sense. hell, even I could make better chatter than that. Turning it off seems risky, because then you might miss important things like the pirate about to interdict you, or the job offer you might miss.

If Goat Simulator can manage a realistic spoof of MMO chat boxes that actually fooled a few people, you'd think a company that put some effort in could manage NPC chat in systems that's halfway believable.

Now, we just need to find a company that can put effort in, do you think FDev knows anyone who could help? :p

Agreed less is more, No more look at only scenarios no more clutter everything on screen should have it's use, was hoping that we could instead of get these message we could get actual small video pop up of the people we are doing jobs for giving us an update as it would be for us personally doing the mission etc, no mission no messages. Boom.

Select Mute for non player voice communication. That turns off the text as well as the annoying voice. Unfortunately, it also mutes the station controllers.

So we have the choice of listening to the chatter and the ATC tower... or.... Not?!

*facepalm* great options there.

Suggestion: FD creates a stickied thread for NPC communications

Community proceeds to create threadnaught of ideas. Devs read and go "Oh I like that" and copy paste.

It sounds silly but, honestly, it's probably the best and easiest way for the developers - I mean, really, NPC flavor text requires virtually no skill to produce. Just a lot of time. It's a super low priority as a result, but if we can make it extremely easy to implement for them (the actual generation of the text), the chances of it improving increases.

Some poor dev gets to copy / paste...or worse, data entry...for a few days and suddenly ED has thousands of new commentaries.

Heck, make it a community goal out of game and do a final poll for couple of categories to doll at rewards.

Top Three Hilarious: "Wedding Barge: What do you mean he jumped out?!" follows "I'm not sure I can through with the wedding."

Serious: "Security: Reactor overloading, we're do...zzk" death of security
Trader: "Trader Name: Officer, my coolant is leaking - if this takes any longer my cargo will melt!"
Pirate: "I'm gonna peel your hold open like a sardine can!"
Tourist: "Due to unforeseen consequences involving snakes, our pilot has exited the craft. Please remain calm."
Bounty Hunter: "You're not a criminal are you? Let's hope not." upon scanning
Slave Trader: "I don't have any cleaners - how about workers? I got workers!"
Imperial Station: "Unclean Vessels may dock at the back of the station."
Federal Station: "Welcome Commander, be advised this system is experiencing war - buy Federal arms to ensure your safety."
Alliance Station: "Mahon Trade Vouchers are available at this station" when station is controlled by Edward Mahon in powerplay

So on and so forth.

Now THIS is a solution. the actual creative work is done by the thousands of us, alleviating the actual hard part; the devs then simply figure out where everything needs to be pasted and how often it pops. If that's not a community goal worth working towards, I dunno what is.

Honestly, I'd be more than happy to write lines for FD to stuff the game with for some variety. Not to mention I'm plenty qualified, writing content for businesses is, well, a not insignificant part of the business I own and run.
