Release Elite: Dangerous Market Connector (EDMC)

I just did a fresh install, got the invalid credentials box the 1st time, and then went green \ all ok. I have never used \ installed EDMC before, not sure if that has any bearing on getting it working.

My question is , I already use EDDI and ED Discovery(which updates EDSN) - and thought I would get EDMC to ensure my station market data updates - but a friend told me I dont need EDMC as EDDI and ED Discovery alreaady do it .. and by running all 3 I am actually causing inaccurate data?

Is that correct? Should I disable EDSN syncing from EDMC for example -as I like ED Discovery GUI etc.

EDIT - a few scans later it stopped working. Its still very intermittent it seems.

There are two phases to this issue. In either phase you can get "Invalid Credentials" errors, but for different reasons.

The first phase is a bad cookie file that needs deleting. The second phase is "It's working but the companion API is still flaky"

I found I had to do the following to fix EDMC.

First, make sure that game and EDMC are running the latest version. Exit from both and make sure neither are zombie tasks. You can look on the Details tab of the windows Task Manager, or just reboot.

Go to the local AppData folder for EDMC (there is no folder in roaming, or at least there shouldn't be!). Do not have EDMC running at this point. You can get to the AppData folder by pressing Windows + R to get a Run window open and then pasting this in "%appdata%\..\Local\EDMarketConnector".

Move anything starting with cookie to a backup folder (move, not copy).

Start EDMC. It may ask for credentials and verification at this point. If it does, enter your account details and check your e-mail inbox for the verification code.

Start the Elite and head into the actual game to force a starting point journal entry to be made. Sitting at the main menu is not good enough.

EDMC might ask for verification at this point (after loading your journal and getting your username from here). It might ask for credentials and then verification.

Even after you do all this the cAPI may still be unreliable. Press Update a couple of times before writing it off.

Hopefully the EDMC team will automate this soon, or at least publish some documentation on formalising the fix process.

It gets even more complicated if you are using multiple windows accounts to run multiple instances of the game and EDMC at the same time.

Currently EDMC is the only app sending station data to EDDN - see logs here. EDDI normally also sends all the available station data to EDDN, but doesn't appear to be doing so currently. EDD doesn't send station shipyard and outfitting data.

It's harmless to have multiple apps sending data - the EDDN network should filter out duplicate messages.

See my post above.

Thanks for the Log location, nice to see my name in print, doin my bit for the CG :p

I did all that and still get "Invalid Credentials" at start and when I try to update. According to the Help/Check for Updates I have the latest version.

Thanks for going with the effort, just tried this and still no joy. The crazy thing is, all the information is there, about CMDR on screen, so I don't know where it thinks it's failing.

It's called "the problem is still on Frontier's side", and they are too busy getting ready for the expo to fix it.

On a slightly happier note, just remembered that I can now scan the Nav Beacon in a system and get all the planetary data uploaded to EDDN :)
I can finally add all the info for the 'default explored' systems near me in the bubble. Happy days :)

I don't thnk so, having this not working before the expo is going to cause them some issues if the fan base turns up asking in person why it hasn't been fixed.
We all expect bugs to be fixed as an when, that's part of game development. but the interface that thousands use to enhance their experience, not working for weeks.
If the devs are working on it, then I guess they are working on it some more since what they published as fixed, isn't fixed. I believe they are well aware of it.

I want it working as much as the next CMDR, we just have to be patient.

I've just started using the tool and am getting the Invalid Credentials error. I'm sure it was okay at first, even got the verification email from Frontier, but now it errors. I wasn't sure if it was because I was playing in a Private Group, but I also see it in Solo.

I am already a patient, because of this. :(

cAPI should now be working for everybody. If it's not working for you:
  • Update to EDMC v2.44.
  • Quit EDMC.
  • Windows: Delete the files %LOCALAPPDATA%\EDMarketConnector\cookie*.txt (usually C:\Users\you\AppData\Local\EDMarketConnector\cookie*.txt).
  • Mac: Delete the files ~/Library/Application Support/EDMarketConnector/cookie*.txt (in Finder hold ⌥ and choose Go → Library to open your ~/Library folder).
  • Restart EDMC and press "Update".

If you're prompted for a verification code then your email and password settings are OK.
If you're not prompted then double-check your email and password in settings.
If you see "Frontier server SKU problem” after getting and entering the validation code then the cAPI is still not working for you.
