Still a few slighty silly things. A lighter form of rant.

Sun light filtered in through the heavy atmosphere of Badfort. At six atmospheric pressures, BD+22 4939 looked washed out in sky and the miles of heavy forest around the facility took on a aquaish and hazy hue. The night before there had been a storm. That meant heavy ear protection for everyone. Thunder on Badfort could be highly dangerous, far more than the lightning.

The Security Chief (Security) stood looking through the large meeting room window at the coming and going ships. The window stretched from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. He turned as the single door to the room opened and a HR aid (HR) entered the room, and took a seat. The woman took off her respirator, looked over a old school paper form before placing it on the table and looking up at the man.

HR - "Hello. Shall we make a start?"

Security - "Of course. What is this about?"

The woman passed her hand over the corner of the large table she was seated at, the gesture summoning a holofac of a Commanders head and some statistics. Security looked for a moment before pulling a small pad from his jacket and tapping it a few times.

Security - "Hmmm. Commander... Saool. Ah, a perpetrator. Wanted. 1500 credit bounty. Seems a bit of a small time crook to warrant my attention and this meeting?"

HR - "Crook?"

Security - "He has a bounty."

HR - "For?"

Security - "It appears he trespassed into the secured areas around a number of our facilities recently. We can't just have any old Commander on our property without authorisation."

HR - "I see. I also note that around the same time as these bounties were levelled, we also paid out for the destruction of several illegal skimmer drones."

The man tapped his device a few more times.

Security - "Yes... yes several illegal drones were destroyed. Good work by some industrious Commander. Let's see, eh... Commander... Saool. Oh."

HR - "Where were these drones?"

Security - "Um... at the same facilities it seems."

HR - "You paid Commander Saool 19,000cr for destroying illegal drones we own, whilst issuing a bounty of 1500cr for trespassing in the process?"

Security - "um..."

HR - "Does this not seem odd to you?"

Security - "Well I'm sure..."

HR - "Are you..."

The man tapped furiously on his pad.

Security - "Wait. It says here Commander Saool was hired to recover vital data from three illegal bases."

HR - "Bases we own, so hardly illegal, given we are the authority in the entire HIP 20 Cluster. And tell me, which clown issued those missions?"

Security - "Eh... You. Apparently."

HR - "Wha..."

The woman hastily tapped on the surface of the table, frowning heavily.

HR - "Um..."

Security - "So we paid this guy, to attack our own facilities, to get our own data, and paid him for both destroying our own security skimmers and for the jobs, but also fined him for doing it as well..."

HR - "Eh... yeah. Oh by the way"

Security - "What now?"

HR - "'This guy' founded our organisation..."

The man slipped his pad away and turned to look back at one of the new Type-10 Defenders rising up into the pale blue-green sky.

Security - "It is Friday today right? Tell me it's Friday..."

Now THAT's the way to do a rant!

Edit: One small typo. It should read that the woman passed her hand over the table, not her hard.

I'm recovering from a cold, so thank you for triggering a coughing fit when I read that. ;) :D

Anyways, I've worked for corporations and other bureaucracies long enough to know how often one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. And that sometimes the other hand wants to find out what the first hand is up to. Sometimes the one hand pay the other hand in order to get them to interfere with the first hand, but on the other hand the one hand needs to spend its budget, or the other hand will give their surplus to the first hand.

Nobody ever bothers consulting with the foot. Which is a pity, because the foot's been around the block or two. It's a real mover.

My god, I was in search of a thread describing an idiot behaviour in the mission I love most and found the exact story that express my thought without yelling at the DEVS!.
My God I got a mission from Faction X it says "Go scan our facility so we can fix it." While I'm there I'm allied with the wanted base skimmers and there is a restricted area. I should be able to Enter, I'm allied with them. I'm in the faction X control system and their own base is "wanted" o_O! Anyway, I found a way to scan the tour without entering the restricted area so I don't need to destroy the skimmer that would count as allied kills. Anyway, I don't want to destroy them. The only thing I get is a small fine 600/500CR and 10min time out on it. But, sometime I get 24h fine so Istop doing those broken missions.
I don't have 24h hours to miss with my preferred faction.
FDev, please fix these missions.
The easiest way is : When you are friendly, you can enter the restricted area, no need to check if you have the right mission to enter the area.

EDIT : While I'm there, stop the final 3 way point moves game within 15km. It is not fun. We can easily see within 15km so it should pop up before being that close to the base. The final one is often behind us just to make it feel the base was there before (we can't see it magically pop up). The intention is good but it doesn't always work.
