Make capital ships and official military ships have colored weapons

It would be really neat if Ofiicial military ships operating under both the Empire and the Federation had colored weapons, it would distinguish their military ships from just any other NPC ship flying around. It might be a little cheesy but you could make up a light lore reason, different weapon technologies/manufacturing or whatever.

I was thinking Cyan or Blue for the Empire and Red or Orange for the Federation. What do you think?

White for Empire, Blue for Feds, Yellow Alliance? I don't know but thats how I see those factions.

Red for Federation, Blue for Empire, Green for Alliance would match their Galmap/Powerplay colours.

It's unclear whether Empire would be blue/cyan/green. But I support it. I have cyan weapons and engines on my Cutter. Imperial Fighters default plasma is blue and the Majestic Interdictors use blue weapons. However, prismatic shields and imperial hammers are green.

I always envisaged Empire=Blue/Cyan Alliance = Green, Feds = Red.

just let the powerplay ships have the respective engine trail colors of their power. together with a fitting paintjob.
