Ship transfer

Now we have the ability to have our ship transferred which is a mahoosive boon, can we please have the ability to have our ships sent to our intended destination while we are on route. I did ask for this ages ago but nothing came of it. Being a night shift worker means more often than not I will get to my destination, request the transfer and have to wait forever for the ship to arrive, or get there then have to log off, go to bed then do whatever I intended to do the next day. This breaks the immersion for me like I cant begin to explain.

Interesting point, I guess with real life for those of us that do not have 5-6 hours to play the game upfront it would be a good option to have, or maybe a phone app to move ships while on the move, in an order you can jump straight in the game next session time around.:D With the quality of life updates being focused on I guess now is the best time to ask.

This has been suggested a couple of other times before with different scenarios including the ability to transfer a ship to an engineer without having to transfer to the ship to drive it to the engineer.

Whether this gets coded in or not remains to be seen.

It would be nice to be able to order your ship(s) to be transfered to any place from wherever you or the to be transfered ship(s) are. Maybe even along with you, so you can change location while not in the game. Of course you'd still have to pay the taxi bill.
What would also be nice is that ships with a larger jump range and/or a fuel scoop get where you want them faster and cheaper.

Good to see there are no negatives as of yet.

Night shift sucks, a few hours a day if I'm lucky of game time means not a lot to do when I do actually play.

I always felt it would be a good reason to hire crew - make them earn their keep & fetch your ships while you travel, that way you can send them anywhere you want for the cost of fuel, repairs & hiring the crew... In any case it could be balanced by taking longer depending on your distance from your ship & the distance it is travelling. This would pave the way for the current travel mechanic to have a much shorter timer but be much more expensive than it is now.

As a kind've bonus you could have regular updates from the crew member you send out to fetch & deliver your ship, things like interesting spots, thargoid sightings, damage caused to the ship he is flying, the occasional random event where you get offered a "genuine fake" engineered part or the such.

There is a lot that could be done with your spare crew and anything giving them a reason to be hired would be a good thing.

Sending a ship makes far more sense than summoning one. Delay is irrelevant, as you don't need to go straight to the destination.

Also, it fits better with any real-life example that I can think of. If I am in London, flying to Paris but want to have my car shipped to Paris. I don't fly to Paris and then organise the shipping, I do that before I leave.

What would also be nice is that ships with a larger jump range and/or a fuel scoop get where you want them faster and cheaper.

Quite right, I have a FAS with only 8.5ly jump range, yet the cost and delay is about the same to summon it as my Asp with a 50ly range.

My question is, say you have a ship sent somewhere. Once that is done, how do YOU get there? Do you fly another ship there, or do we now have to start asking for magic CMDR teleportation technology? o7

Fly there in my 40 odd Ly AspX or if I want to get there quicker because I am an impatient sod then go in my 47 Ly Anaconda. Since 2.4 I cannot get to Maia for some reason in my Vulture, this is with a 4a Fuel Scoop added just for the journey, it just flunks out. This is Via fastest route, taking the eco route has a ridiculous amount of jumps.

id say this is a must add Feat!

if im going to colonia and i want to sendt some ships over.. i want to have these ships at colonia same time i arive... not wait another 3 days for them.

You could note that noone here is asking for CMDR teleportation. If you are using this as an argument against, it's not a very good one. Try harder.
