FX17: No space legs and no atmospheric planets

Guilty as charged.

Five years after the pitch that extracted a reasonable amount of money from me, I don't have a hint of pedestrian motion, atmospheric landings or access to gas giant atmospheres. I do have CQC, PowerPlay and promised (I assume the squadrons announcement counts as a promise) guild tools, none of which appeared in the KS. I know, plans change, I've learnt that to my cost.

Plenty of good stuff in yesterday's announcement, especially if you like guilds, so there is plenty to look forward to. I just don't think it's a bad thing to remind FDevs about those features that were used to get Elite: Dangerous funded in the first place.

Guilds?

I thought ED was "never going to have clans or player owned bases"

LOL

I've just been on another thread asking about the average age of players etc - which seems to be in the late 30s +

After reading the 'my game is better than yours' comments on this thread, I'm starting to think that thread was a lie or people were lying.

It reminds me of when I was a kid and people used to argue whether Atari was better than Commodore etc.

As for the announcements - I'm happy - it all looks like good stuff to me.
Love the new 'beige killer'

Anyway - back to the game

There's a lot of poster who simply do not read posts and assume what is being said and get it wrong all the time. There's also a number of people here that enjoy reptitive tasks ad naseum and confuse it for gameplay. A lot of ED'ers don't play other games either and a lot of posters cannot understand simple concepts so mix that all together and yeah, it's gets a little salty here at times LOL ;)

It is a gameplay, and one especially enjoyable in such game as ED.

You don't like it? There's a deal - you don't have to. It is all fine. No need to shame people for liking it.

Games are full of repetitive tasks. Repetition is in fact how we learn and that's for most of games are major selling point.

My major issue/goal is for FD to get those repeatable tasks to feel more at home, to feel more engaging, more interesting, more immersive. Fun.

No it isn't. Repetitive, dull and unchallenging. That's ED in a nutshell and why it's been constantly criticised since launch not to mention how it's the only game people watch netflix too

When you're eatching TV, the game you're playing is called "boring"

Evidence please. You keep saying this, but don't back it up with any evidence.

I provided the evidence in the thread I was asked to provide evidence in! It was the very last post before the thread got locked because as usual, some people cannot handle criticism of the game and get upset.

Whatever you say mate :) I guess we are a bit 'wrong' of liking ED for what it is...and I have never felt need to open Netflix during playing it. Might be saying a lot about players who push themselves to grind rather than game itself.

Hey, I critisze the game myself in places. I saw someone post some GAME sales figures in the UK. If that was them, then I am sorry, that is not much evidence at all. I did see some other figures, but they where far from complete as well. I really cannot fathom how anyone can come to a conclusion with such little information.

Sorry while I tend to agree with you on other points — neither you, I, or anyone else gets to redefine the meaning of the word "gameplay" just because we think it's repetitive.

Shooting people over and over again in a first person shooter is repetitive, and the reason I don't play that many.

Picking up crafting items in Witcher 3 is repetitive and is excruciatingly boring in my opinion (walk up to objects and press E) — but it's still gameplay no matter how much I despise it.

Well you've proven over and over again that you are a fan of the game and unquestioningly too. You also attack people for having differeing opions so this time it's nice to see a decent post from yourself :)

I don't know why anyone would grind this game. The main issue is that once you've done everything the once, it's the same all over again. That has a limited lifespan and mileage will vary but I've done maybe 50 CZ's and I'm done with them.

What is exciting about a CZ once you've players it a dozen times? Now apply that to all the other game parts and once you've done them a bunch, I fail to see why people keep doing them and for thousands of hours as well. I know I don't get the way you play but you need to understand that shallow, repetitive gameplay doesn't do it for a lot of us and we say it's shallow because there's nothing to it.

Take a CZ again, shallow to the core. You can even join opposing sides and it's an infinite spawn of ships to shoot with no outcome and no point other than space combat is fun.

You mention star citizen like it possible. It a tech demo at best, plus all that money thrown at it has only guaranteed its status as pay to win forever.
Its not coming out. Its a bug ridden mess and a prefect example why you dont throw millions qt unsubstantiated promises

I don't play Witcher 3 so I can't comment. Shooting in and FPS I can though and it's not repetitive at all. If you think that then you have exposed how unqualified you are to have an opinion because nobody would ever say an FPS is "repetitive because you just shoot people".

There's tactics, knowledge and skill to be learned in an FPS. All those elements never make for the same game though some FPS's are better than others, obviously. To reduce an FPS like you've done would be the same as reducing ED to "a space game where you just press a fire button"

Yes, in the strict sense of the word boring gameplay is still gameplay to some but objectively, we can show how simple and shallow gameplay is which is massively boring to a lot of people, hence the criticsm of the game since day one.

No, but take pretty much anything from ED and it's prediectable. You know what's going to happen and it's too easy.

This FDev have acknowledged btw - the reason for this thread is no legs/planets - no - that's because FDev know their game lacks depth - they said it themselves so the only ones still clinging onto "ED is a brilliant game the best ever" are now on their own because even the Developers disagree with them.

Doesn't normally stop you Jex. :D

LOL well I try to comment on stuff I know and if I don't I ask questions but people keep poking me with a stick too! ;)

Nay saying apparently more fun than finding a different game to play
Elite entertains the meta :D :p

I have found different games to play thanks. What does that have to do with posting here on the forums?

And what place did it get on the PSN in it's first week, then where was it on it's 2nd?
