Are ED accounts linked across platforms?

Unfortunately not (at least, as far as I am aware). Which is why my Xbox One account hasn't got very far from Eravate... Well, that and the lack of decent HOTAS option. While that new Thrustmaster one is ok, it's not a patch on a PC HOTAS.
You can have the same commander name on both platforms (I do), but they are separate accounts.
And on another note... I wonder if this is why FD are happy to not charge anything further until at least 2019?

That doesn't make sense. Microsoft have already stated they would support cross-platform play, and they can already do it (Xbox and Windows 10 have the same core). Sony are the sticking point, as they are refusing even to discuss such a possibility at the moment.
If anything, cross platform would increase store sales.
Steam aren't involved in Skin purchases though, it's done via the Frontier site. Although the xbox copy I saw was some special edition with Horizons and "1000 Frontier Points"
Was going to play with the Mrs, as shes more the console type although I have over 1000 hours on PC.
Why not get the mrs on PC? She can still use her controller and all should be good
