I have a question or two about the BGS.

Small population systems.

Do these systems require less work to influence? For example less ships destroyed, etc.?

Could a single player with enough effort start wars?

Keep an eye on the faction states. If you see a state of "none", there's a conflict, pending or recovering conflict in another system. Check the local news to find out where. Use the states to maximize your efforts.

Check the OP of the BGS megathread. There's a chart that will help you decide which actions to take.

Good hunting.

Thanks. :)

It is possible to have a state of "None" across all the systems a faction is in. It just doesn't happen for long to factions in busy areas. As well as being an indication that something interesting is happening somewhere else, None is also the vanilla state for factions where nothing is going on.

I'll take your word for it. I'm sure you've seen that and I know that you have in-depth knowledge of the BGS. I just haven't come across a true "none" state since before 2.1 hit. Then again, I tend to stay in pretty active systems.

<edit> Rats! I gotta spread some rep around before giving you more. </edit>

The outer edge of the Bubble, in areas too thinly populated to be profitable for Powerplay, is where it's easiest to carve out your own personal empire. Or "empires".

Your biggest problem will be finding a communist faction out there. For the randomly-generated indie factions, communists are much less probable than anarchists, democrats or corporates. But if you've already found one, go for it.

When you've found a system you want to try to work in, land at a station and check the traffic reports. A typical fringe system will have less than 10 visitors a day. More than that, and someone else might be working that system. It might pay to watch the influence boards without you doing anything there and see if the boards are moving without your input. If they're not, the system is yours for the taking and shouldn't require too much effort on your part to flip. But if someone else cares about a faction in that system, you'll likely end up working against each other with neither side making any progress.

My home world is low population on the edge of the bubble. I've managed to get my faction in control of 6 systems with foot hold in another 4 or 5. It really helps having your own area to chain missions together and I always have a war brewing. Fringer life is great.

Thanks for the plug!

Just to be clear, Communism Interstellar's PMF is the Communist Interstellar Union. We support communist factions in our region of the bubble, starting with the Workers of Manite Labour Union before PMFs were a thing. The Interstellar Communist Union is run by our Russian comrades, and is based in another part of the bubble. We are in alliance with them.

We are essentially a collective - we make decisions collectively. Outside of collectively voting on major issues (not difficult as we are a rather small group), each member is free to do as they wish within the confines of their consciences. There are no standing orders or, indeed, compulsion of any kind. We engage in a bit of light forum RP, and will occasionally talk leftist politics in TS, but we don't sit there debating the finer points of dialectical materialism. We run a tracker for recording system states and informing our decisions, with another online platform to track CMDR inputs and prioritise the available actions in the systems we curate.

I'm quite happy to offer both general and specific advice to you, Un1K0rn. PM me if you want to avoid naming the system you're pushing in a public forum.
