Regarding those Colonia Data Missions

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. These things are being offered at 2.5M a pop from allied factions. You could stack 15 of them and walk away with 35M extra for a trip out to Colonia.

Bring along a passenger or two and you're set.

Speaking of which... can someone please school me on the Neutron Highway?

I have a couple of small explorers that could make it out there in a jiff, I think.

I am actually quite Ok with them. However the mission amount reduction patch may leave you, sometimes, with missions only to Colonia, which is not cool. It defeat the purpose and makes you mode jump to find missions you may want or need.
it requires another look IMO.

I would love for the missions to be tailored to your history, but I realize that is night impossible.

Hey,

Am planning a trip out there once the T-10 is released. There are 4 Neutron fields (As far as I am aware of)

I was one of the first Cmdrs to discover a field, completely by accident enroute to the core, each field is immense, spanning thousands of light years. An excellent guide is here - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/163816-The-Neutron-Fields-A-

The Colonia highway is listed here among many others https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/281825-2-2-Building-the-Neutron-Highway-Grid

From 85% the FSD will start to develop faults. An AFMU is essential for the trip.

Yea, I wasn't positive on the percentage, but it really started failing once I got into the low 70's. I used the NH on the way back from Colonia and I think it cut a full 1/3 of the trip off but at a steep cost to my drive.

Of the things I learned... leave the weapons at home and bring an AFMU with the materials to repair if you are using the highway. I made it back with probably around 50% left but I had to stop the charged jumps just to be sure I made it at all.

I was glad for the boost but there were times I was afraid the drive wouldn't come back on line. Lots of Reboot/Repair cycling.

Since 2.4 you can ask galmap to plot including neutron jumps. Its not perfect, but works fine.

You should definitely do that and document your experience to show us what silly naysayers we all are. I'll be especially interested to hear how the passenger missions work out for you.

Really? I've never had any issues until I was at 79% or lower.

If you're going out there anyway, sure, it's nice to stack up missions for some extra cash.
But if you're doing it as a way to earn cash...don't.

You can make 10 mil an hour scanning earth-likes and terraformables.

i don´t have a problem with that they show up when you have allied status and good exploration rank. when you reached this point you have plenty of other missions to choose from anyway.
but they show up at cordial standing and novice exploration rank too, and often at this point they are the only missions on the board.
and this is a BIG problem as it is sending tons of newbies out in the black never to be seen again.

Take the Data Delivery missions AND take some Passenger Missions, specifically - Passenger Transport (not the Sight Seeing mission). Passenger missions to Colonia pay alot, most offer 20M and above, so if you could spare some cabins, take a few with you too!

Cool, can you take all the endless one's that come up, so I can get the short-range stuff to show up again? Frontier, in their infinite wisdom, decided every single faction desperately has missions to go to colonia, but like nowhere else. And then they decided to reduce the mission counts again, as the usual knee-jerk response to passenger mission profits.

Rather than, uh, setting some kind of sane limit on passenger missions, and leaving the mission counts at higher values, so there is more chance of not colonia missions, allowing the original change reason, which was a good change reason, to remain.

Thanks for helping a brother out! [up]

Yeah look, this is great if I am going out to colonia; but if I'm not, then it's not really great, it's just depressing to see colonia missions, struggle to find something else, and then have linked missions send you to Colonia and you just want to uninstall and crawl into the closet, assume the foetal position, rocking back and forth.

Here's the thing. Are there passenger transport missions to colonia? I've only seen long range exploration, which is therefore a loop. If frontier actually added passenger transport missions to Colonia (if they exist, then they are rarer than pharmaceutical isolators) then maybe that'd be grand.

But then, unless the goal is to take passengers to colonia specifically, we're back with why are you going out there? Exploring? What's the actual goal? I'm trying to work out which problem Frontier is trying to resolve with that.

Where are you based? I'm at my usual spot in the old Ovid/I-Bootis cluster. Plenty of short haul freight and pax missions, 1.5 million credit pax trips for 7LY's, freighter jobs pay very well (1mill+) Just need to be allied.

Yeah they can be a bit annoying if you're staying in the bubble. But if I was inclined to go to Colonia, I'd stack as many data courier missions as I could before I left for the trip.

Yeah, let's talk about that. Neutron charging doesn't damage the hull, right? Only the internals?

I was sort of out of the way last night. Not too far from a couple of the Imperial HQs and there were plenty of haulage and data missions on the boards. So much so that I was running out of space to pick up missions. The Colonia missions (mostly data) were there, but didn't get in the way of normal mission running.
