I love RLM, even when I don't agree with them.
And yeah, I don't agree with them about the Abrams Trek movies. (They sucked). Abrams Star Wars I enjoyed, though.
It's unfortunate that Blade Runner 2049 appears to be bombing at the box office, as it really was a very good film.

Saw it yesterday . . . visually entertaining, thin storyline . . . a "let's make a few bucks" movie.

I'll have to disagree there. To me it was actually the opposite. It had real class and was well put together.
Every single studio movie ever made was done so to make a few bucks. The difference between the good and the bad ones is that the good ones have heart. They have creative people involved who love what they are doing, have a vision, and are able to execute it with a minimum of outside intervention (studio meddling, focus groups, etc.)
2049 scores pretty well by that measure imho. Not perfect, but darn good.
A "let's make a few bucks" movie, would cost 40 million to make and gross 400 million internationally with an easy seat filling subject like supernatural horror.
This film cost 190 million and had one of the biggest producers and critically acclaimed directors in hollywood behind it and has so far underperformed domestically because of its subject matter and runtime not being so popular.

It has a looong way to go before that number catches up with the original...
Based on that there were only 10 people in a imax cine on opening day.. Its the same ten people rewatching it.. Growth in cinema is in China SK and Japan markets.
The movie seem to start when Harison Ford turned up. Hes doing the same 'thing' he did with Han solo and indiana jones..
Are they planning more sequels since many unanswered questions remain..

Saw this on Friday night. Both me and Mr's Mallory were looking forward to this... When it had finished I turned to my wife and said "I really wanted to go after the first hour but I knew you really wanted to see this." to which she replied "I did too but thought you'd want to see it all."
